The staff are exceptional; helpful, kind, cheerful and efficient. They help to create the friendly, relaxed and informal atmosphere of the Ambleside Inn whilst retaining high standards. The location is perfect for us being central to Ambleside for restaurants, live music, and independent cinemas showing a wide range of films for rainy days and nights. But also a great base for exploring the beauties of the Lake District. The food was well cooked and nicely presented. Our room was comfortable and clean.

We enjoyed the food but would like a little more variety of fish and vegetarian dishes. More fresh fruit at breakfast, please! Room 101 could do with better lighting .

Great location with a lovely bar area. Family room was spacious and lovely big bed. Staff were lovely and always friendly and helpful.

Having no parking at hotel as it’s in the centre of Ambleside so had to pay at public car park. Lots of stairs to access which we found a bit tricky with luggage, a 2 year old and a buggy.

Lovely big room. Delicious breakfast cooked (quickly and efficiently) to order. Great location with loads of restaurants and bars in walking distance. Plenty of walking available in the area without needing a car
