Hotel Indigo - Stratford Upon Avon by IHG

Rooms are absolutely lovely and reception staff/breakfast are great. Hotel is beautiful. Great location

Unfortunately we had a meal last at the Woodsman which was a huge disappointment. We paid without complaint as we this trip is a Christmas present for my mum, but felt it came nowhere near its accolade of number one fine dining restaurant in Stratford: bog standard pub menu as opposed to a fine dining restaurant, table not even set up (in bar, not even the restaurant), paper napkins, rude and disinterested staff, food not very nice. What a shame. Very embarrassed to take my mum out there.

Central location and lovely décor atmosphere and service

The staff at check-in were excellent, very friendly and helpful. I was shown to my room and the room was ready before actual check-in time, check-in was a stress-free experience.

Everything about the hotel was fabulous. The food was exceptional - best breakfast I've had in a long time, and the food in the Woodsman was also excellent. We had a room with air conditioning as it was unseasonably warm and were glad of it (although it was a little noisy). Little touches like putting the fridge behind a noise proof door in the wardrobe were appreciated, as were the free items inside it!

The air conditioning was a bit noisy but I'm not sure that can really be helped.

The location is superb and couldn't be bettered for Shakespeare and theatre fans! The hotel itself is lovely and has been tastefully renovated, whilst keeping its very old heart. The breakfast was excellent and we really appreciated being able to get post-theatre drinks (including hot chocolate!) very late in the evening, after the theatre. Our room was delightful. And, above all, every member of staff we met was exceptionally welcoming, kind and helpful.

One (very small)sun spot was the presence of a quite bulky portable air conditioner (with big plastic tube exiting the window) in the bedroom. It was explained that because of the age of the rooms in this particular part of the hotel, air conditioning could only be made available this way. It was not really a problem - we actually stowed the tube to one side and didn't need air conditioning anyway!
