"Disappointing Experience at a So-Called Premium Property – Avoid the Lakeview Suite"

I would rate 0 stars if I could. We stayed at the Grand Hotel Tremezzo for our final five nights in Italy, expecting a true luxury experience given the hotel’s reputation and pricing. Unfortunately, it fell well short of premium standards. Our Lakeview Suite was directly opposite a function room. On our second last night, a wedding was held on the property. While the music and guests were enjoyable to listen to, the post-event pack-down was not. Staff continued working loudly until at least 130am — wheeling trolleys past our room and repeatedly using the storeroom/emergency exit literally on the other side of our bedhead wall. The same storeroom was accessed again from 5am onward. As a result, we got virtually no sleep that night. The room layout made this disturbance unavoidable. The hotel was fully aware of the issue and offered a 20% discount as “rectification.” However, no one from management ever met with us despite our requests. They remained behind closed doors, which felt dismissive for a property charging premium rates. Service elsewhere was inconsistent. The kitchen repeatedly messed up orders. Every second table was being offered a free drink, surprise dessert and apologies for wrong orders, meals taking over an hour to arrive at lunchtime (think club sandwich and fries style taking that long). There are staff members addressing complaints all over the hotel. The gym is so old. Aircon is almost non existent, dumbbells missing and no full set. There is no fall on the suite shower floor despite it being a brand new renovation. Maintenance was unable to fix this as it’s structural so the bathroom floor floods every time it’s used. After staying at true luxury properties like the Four Seasons during our European trip, this hotel simply did not compare in service, attention to detail, or guest comfort. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere on Lake Como. Villa d’Este, properties in Bellagio, or the upcoming Ritz would be far better choices. We cannot recommend the Grand Hotel Tremezzo, especially the Lakeview suites for anyone who expecting a genuine five-star service.

"Perfect place to stay to celebrate our 25th wedddibg anniversary."

Very opulent hotel where attention to detail is outstanding as was the Amazing view from our room.

To be honest there was nothing I disliked although found some of the other guests were a pain.

There are luxury hotels, and then there are places that become part of your life story. Grand Hotel Tremezzo is one of those places. On June 13, 2026, I proposed to my fiancée at Grand Hotel Tremezzo, and I can honestly say that this extraordinary property will forever hold a special place in our hearts. The beauty of the hotel is beyond words. The views of Lake Como are breathtaking, the atmosphere is magical, and every detail reflects elegance, class, and timeless Italian charm. But while the setting is unforgettable, what truly made our experience exceptional was the people. I would especially like to recognize Mr. Amedeo Fortunato, who played an important role in making one of the most significant days of our lives absolutely perfect. From the very beginning, Amedeo treated us with genuine warmth, kindness, patience, and professionalism. He went far beyond what we could have expected from any member of staff. He helped us, reassured us, took beautiful photographs that we will cherish for the rest of our lives, and made sure everything went smoothly during such an emotional and important moment. What stood out most was how sincerely invested he seemed in our happiness. He didn't simply provide excellent service - he helped create a once-in-a-lifetime memory. When we look back on our engagement years from now, Amedeo will be part of that memory. That is not something that can be said about many hotel employees. I sincerely hope that Grand Hotel Tremezzo recognizes how fortunate it is to have someone like Amedeo on its team. Employees like him are rare, and his dedication, professionalism, and kindness deserve special recognition. I would also like to thank the wonderful staff at the poolside pizzeria. The service was consistently attentive, welcoming, and friendly. The food was outstanding, the atmosphere was relaxed and enjoyable, and every meal there was a pleasure. The entire team contributed to making our stay even more memorable. What makes Grand Hotel Tremezzo truly exceptional is that it combines a world class location with world class people. The hotel is stunning, but it is the staff who transform a beautiful stay into a lifelong memory. We arrived as guests and left with memories that will stay with us forever. Without a doubt, when the time comes to celebrate another special chapter in our lives, perhaps even our honeymoon, Grand Hotel Tremezzo will be one of the very first places we think about returning to. Thank you to everyone at Grand Hotel Tremezzo for making one of the happiest days of our lives so unforgettable. Ben Shpater

"Grand Hotel Tremezzo Not A Wow"

I stayed for two nights the end of April. I was expecting a WOW experience for the cost and was completly disapointed. Extremely small guest room, no desk and the carpet under the bed should have been replaced years ago. Most of the staff were young and appeared to be trained to act a certain way that came across at times as fake. The food was not great and was really expensive. Again I was expecting a Wow! There was one exception. It was the mazing breakfast service. The food options at trhe buffet were extensive and the kitchen was beutiful. In general, all the costs at the Grand seemed excessive. A Vodka tonic was over 30 Euro. I look forward to returning to Lake Como but not at this hotel. The views are amazing and Lake Como is a must visit!

"Checked out early- should have done it even earlier."

Here is the update to my earlier review. We had bad service. It began about 1-2 weeks before arrival when we emailed the concierge for assistance. We did not get a reply. Over the course of 7 days we emailed many times and finally the hotel manager replied & said to deal with only her. This was a heads up we should have cancelled the reservation for 2 suites. My husband was using the terrace of our suite and inadvertently got locked into that area. He called 3 times and it took 45 minutes to get assistance. These were 2 of many problems we had. I met with the hotel manager in person to detail all our issues and requested not to pay for the 1st night. She said she had to talk with the general manager and would get back to me. She finally got back to me at 5 p.m. and offered a minor free service. something we totally would not want or use. I told her we did not want that and repeated what I wanted. I said we will be checking out early then. I don't believe she spoke with the general manager, Silvio, as he approached me the next day as we were leaving the property to say he saw in the system we were checking out early. I told him that the hotel manager, Anna, as aware of all the issues and he could chat with her. He said I would rather hear it directly from you. So again I told of our issues [my time is money too - especially since we were trying to leave and had a car waiting] he promised me he would take care of us and get back to me. That was about a week ago and I have not heard from him or any of his staff. Prior to this stay and directly after we were in Milan - stayed at a high end chain and had impeccable service. Don't waste your money here.

"Best experience!!!"

Excellent service and beautiful place !! My son’s wedding was last week at one of the terraces! Everything was perfect! Drinks, appetizers, food, decoration was impeccable! Servers, waiters, hotel personnel were always doing their best to please us! Tissy, one the waitress was amazing, taking care of us in all the aspects, whatever we need, she was there! 10 out of 10 👍🏼👏🏻

"Checking out of this hotel early."

Valentina – I have read your responses to guests who have made negative comments and they are all very similar. We are currently in multiple suites in your hotel and have experienced poor service in many different areas. We are checking out tomorrow which is earlier than planned and I will update this review once we have left. I have discussed the issues with Management and their solution was unacceptable. With so many choices available to us Travelers it is unfortunate that this is the situation at this hotel.

"Phenomenal service"

My wife and 4 year old daughter stayed for 4 nights and our favorite experience was at the outdoor pool in the garden. Especially the service, the staff made us feel right at home, specially Armedio. He greeted us everyday, brought our daughter chocolates every evening and made sure we were always comfortable and taken care of. He went above and beyond. Room service was also exceptional, in part because of Camille, she was great. She made sure we got breakfast promptly, gave us advice on what to visit/explore and again, made us feel comfortable and at home. This place is truly unique in its beauty and overall vibe!
