"Very dosappointed"

6.0

The good- the spa is lovely The not so good and disappointing- the room was dark, very outdated (brown rug), old cheap blow dryer, cheap soap etc, tiny tv that did not work very well, ugly decor, in serious need of an update. I am all for being green and dont need my sheets or towels changed each day but for the price we paid I expect someone to freshen the room each day, make the bed, empty the garbage, etc …, refill the kuerig pods etc… I think the place is way overpriced and the room is at best worth $250 a night not 450 a night (and that was midweek price).

"We Will Be Visiting Again"

10.0

This is a very nice resort. Staff are all gracious and welcoming. Our room was spacious and well appointed. We enjoyed breakfast in the restaurant looking out over the running water of the adjacent stream. Our omelettes were delicious and everything was served hot and well prepared. We also had a tasty dinner at the restaurant. Woodstock is about 20 minutes drive and quite accessible.

"Came just to see the kaleidoscope"

10.0

I love a good "World's Largest" so the telescope got my attention. It was really cool! Not what I expected but we weren't disappointed. The kaleidoscope store had a disappointing selection of kaleidoscopes, but the World's Smallest kaleidoscope is in there, so you get a World's Largest and World's Smallest at this attraction.

"Good Yet Disappointing"

6.0

i was very much looking forward to going to the emerson. i had hiked near woodstock before and i had seen the resort from the highway and it looked beautiful. i hate to say that the experience was underwhelming. First the pros. the inn itself and adjacent buildings/lodges are beautiful. the location adjacent to the river which you can hear from the outdoor room patios is serene and relaxing. we stayed in an imperial suite and it was spacious, clean and updated. my wife used the spa two days and was happy with her treatments. now the cons. i like to stay at upscale hotels because i enjoy the amenities and i believe that you usually "get what you pay for". however, that was not the case here. when i checked in they were quick to tell me that there was no housekeeping on a regular basis but available if i requested it. really? covid is over. get back to providing normal hotel service. i expect garbage picked up, room cleaned, coffee refreshed and beds made EVERY day without having to make it seem like i am asking for a favor. i just got back from italy and at a similarly priced hotel they not only cleaned the rooms every afternoon but had a turn down service complete with chocolates on the pillow at night. that is what i expect at over $600 per night. next, we stayed at the inn. apparently the restaurant used to be at the inn but now it isnt. its about .25-.3 miles down the road. and since there is no room service you need to drive (or walk 10-15 minutes each way) to pick up breakfast. i have an idea. why not have one of the individuals at the restaurant use the golf cart to run take out orders to the inn. would mean more revenue, more gratuities and providing actual service to the clientele. the staff, they weren't rude or anything but i don't feel like they went above and beyond either. i am a gym guy and the fitness center though it had treadmills and pelotons definitely needs refreshing it feels like a locker room. the location of the emerson while beautiful is also off the beaten path and there is basically no where to go to enjoy any night life. woodstock is a 15 minute drive. overall i am glad that i tried the emerson but don't see myself going back. i could go the sagamore at lake george or any of the top hotels a hundred times but once was enough for me at the emerson. hotel management: you are charging 5 star money and providing 2 star service. i get the same service at a lower end hotel chain.

"Great stay"

10.0

I was a little concerned about my one night stay after reading some recent mixed reviews. I genuinely have no idea what these people are talking about. This was an excellent stay. Resort & room were exceedingly clean & comfortable. I stayed in the Inn and was delighted by a spa-style shower, jetted tub, high-end finishes and a terrifically comfortable bed. All of the staff members we encountered were lovely - save the spa attendant who came into the men's changing room and insisted my husband just stay in the shower until she was done cleaning -- and even that was just more odd than rude. There were multiple weddings going on during our stay, none of which we were affiliated with. I anticipated some disruption to our stay accordingly, just from a limited resources and competing priorities standpoint. A misplaced worry . We were not made to feel secondary at all. Spa prices were reasonable for today's environment and very high quality, especially with the amenities available for use. Same with the rooms themselves. The on site restaurant was great, delicious food and friendly service. No complaints! I have high expectations and they were more than exceeded. This was our first stay and we'll definitely be back.

"A disappointing repeat performance"

4.0

Had a lovely stay in July 2022. However the rates for the same room as we previously had before have increased so much making it not worth the visit. Also the room was too cold and unable to fix temperature. The articles usually provided in room were not there and needed to call front desk to supply them. Even the facial was 50 dollars more than before. They are not in compliance with inflation and overcharging. As unhappy returnees we will not return

"Perfect Birthday Party"

10.0

We celebrated my wife’s birthday party at the Emerson. Marci was an amazing resource from the very beginning of planning to the end (she bartended for the party). Communication, ideas and helping with forgotten details (candles, and finding a last minute fill-in dessert) were all handled quickly, professionally, and with care. The team on the night of the party were professional, attentive and went above and beyond to make sure everything was amazing. The venue and area (Spa Bites) was beautiful and great character for a party of 40 people with room to dance. The food was varied (Marci also helped with making the menu choices), flexible for a few different dietary needs, and delicious. Rooms were comfortable and convenient. Overall an amazing experience and a gem which we look forward to returning for weekend getaways.

"Run down, poorly managed - look elsewhere"

2.0

We had a terrible experience at the Emerson. This is not a 4-star hotel. The lodge luxury suite is run down, the staff is poorly trained, the food is really bad, no housekeeping for any issues after 2pm. The spa facility is clean but the treatments and services were so disappointing - I’ve had better quality treatments in a strip mall spa. With so many Catskill properties getting it right - Emerson completely misses the mark. You’re better off nearby at Scribners or Mohonk.
