"We will be back soon."

We stay at the Salthouse regularly due to a variety of reasons… atmosphere, scenery, value for money and the extremely helpful and attentive staff.

""Nice" but missing something......."

8.0

We stayed on a Dinner, B&B package and found the set dinner menu quite limited in choices. Having said that, the food was of a high standard and nicely presented. Our room was beautifully decorated and very clean but with a poor view over the side of the hotel (looks like no bedrooms have sea views?). All staff we met were polite and courteous. Breakfast is completely served to you at your table – there is no self service, buffet option. On check in, you have to inform staff what time you want breakfast; so waiting at your breakfast table will be one small glass of yogurt with compote and granola and one small glass of chopped fruit with two little pastries, per person. You order your cooked breakfast option and it is brought to your table. Portion size was OK for me but if you have a hearty appetite, you may be disappointed. The hotel has a semi rural location at the top of a hill so walks are a bit limited and the grounds need a little spruce up. The wonderful views over the sea are best enjoyed from the restaurant and bar area. The suites located in a separate block away from the hotel could be good for families. Overall, it’s a nice hotel but lacking atmosphere. Would I stay again? Probably not.

"Paying for the Spa!!!"

8.0

Stayed here as birthday treat. Hotel is really well laid out and decorated and the staff were excellent. Breakfast was very good too. Just a couple of things I would flag up. I thought it was dreadful that guests had to pay £20 a head to use the spa facilities ie hot tub sauna steam room and nowhere in the literature could I find this noted. Charge non residents yes but guests??? Rooms were very hot and no ac. Also I thought the grounds were very poorly tended..not looking for clipped lawns but estate needs attention.

"Nice hotel, but definitely not a spa hotel"

6.0

First impressions of this hotel were a little underwhelming. There is no reception area, just a small desk at the front door, no hotel lobby to sit in either. We stayed in room 104 which was accessed via an outside courtyard. It reminded me of an American motel. The room however was large, very clean and tastefully decorated, with a large walk in shower. To use the Spa it is an extra £20 per person per hour. The spa consists of a relaxation room and a steam room, you then need to go up steps to the hot tub outside which is under a canopy, actually getting into the hot tub is quite challenging and would be impossible for anyone with even minimal mobility issues, there is also a very small two person sauna outside. The whole area was very wet, muddy and slippery. To be fair there is a new spa under construction, but to charge extra for these current temporary facilities is ridiculous. We ate in the lookout bistro and the food was good. Breakfast is cooked to order and was also very good. I did enjoy my stay and the staff were very friendly, but if you’re looking for a relaxing spa experience this is not the place to go.
