DoubleTree by Hilton Stamford

We stayed here because of a room block for an ice-skating competition, and unfortunately, we will never stay here again. The entire experience was extremely disappointing. The service, lobby, and rooms all felt outdated and in serious need of a full remodel. Our room was spacious, but that was the only positive. The wallpaper was peeling, the carpet was dirty, and there were scuff marks all over the walls. The fridge made constant noise, and the bathroom was in awful condition. The whole room looked neglected and poorly maintained. The breakfast buffet was another disappointment very expensive for two adults and two kids, with nothing special offered. It was just a basic breakfast and server wasn't attentive. Service wasn’t much better. The morning valet was rude and acted annoyed whenever we needed the car. The front desk gave different people in our group different prices for self-parking and valet. Some were told self-parking was free, others were charged $15, and the staff couldn’t explain why there were different rates. On top of that, we had noise complaints because of a loud party happening in the ballroom directly below our rooms. It makes no sense to place guests especially families right above an event space when there’s a party going on. Overall, this was a disappointing experience from start to finish. I would not recommend this hotel and will not be returning.

What was there to actually like? When you walk into the lobby it’s very nice. Then you start to notice that it’s not so pretty after all. The elevators barely worked with it stopping just short of the exit or just above and were disgusting. When you walk out of the elevators it was all grime. The walls were gross and you could tell it hadn’t been loved for years. It was like it used to be a grand hotel and then business slowed down and a slum lord bought it. Didn’t update a thing since the early 90’s. The hotel room. Oh lord! It was even more disgusting. The curtain looked like someone was murdered in the room. Some kind of redish brown stains. The walls were discussing and paint peeling off the walls in the bathroom. The air conditioning was inconsistent and was hot then cold. For some reason I can’t explain the beds were comfortable. The restaurant was terrible and over priced. The bartender was nice but food was wrong and so so overpriced! Got DoorDash the second night.

The staff was friendly, which I appreciated, but I did experience several issues during my stay. I waited about five minutes for valet service and eventually parked my car myself. The hallway carpet was torn and noticeably dirty, and it was not vacuumed at any point during my three-night stay. In the room, the toilet barely flushed, the shower had little hot water or water pressure, and the floors, walls, and carpet were stained or unclean. The TV didn’t work at check-in, though maintenance promptly fixed it. There was also no body wash and only one washcloth in a two-queen room. Although I had a food and beverage credit, the shop and Starbucks were never open to use it. Lastly, when picking up a DoorDash order in the lobby, staff stopped me, assuming I was delivering food.
