Derby Inn & Suites

Equivalent to staying in a normal motel.

I didn’t expect much due to the cost of the room but I did expect not to be assaulted by the intolerable odor of cigarettes as soon as I walked in. I had not realized this hotel also had smoking rooms available, otherwise I would not have chosen this particular place. Thankfully the room itself did not have that odor. Neither the bed nor the pillows were comfortable at all. I’m just glad it was a one night stay.

One of the front desk ladies came and knocked on our door and asked if we were smoking pot because they could smell it coming down the hallway. We are not smokers of anything, not cigarettes and absolutely not marijuana. My husband even offered to let the woman come in to smell and check out the room, she said "that's ok, I believe you". My husband was pissed and highly offended that she would only stop at our door and ask that. I will never stay at that overpriced establishment again.

Only negative thing i could say is a ice machine would be nice. Connie was totalled awesome. I ask for 2 extra pillows and she provided!!

Reservation from Orbitz did not go through and another couple who came in behind me was turned away even though they had an Orbitz reservation. The staff talked about a resident who was smoking crack and climbing out of windows. Nobody was at the desk when I walked in and it took me more than 30 minutes to check in. Overall, this was a poor property and I will not stay there again.

Originally booked for 3 people and one backed out before the stay. Saw that I was charged an “extra person fee” of $20. Refund was never given. Room needs updated. Bugs were on the floor and on the bed. Thankfully this was only a place for my friend and I to sleep

I don't expect much for $60 a night, I just hope that the room is clean. Unfortunately, it was not. There was a dead bug to great me as soon as I entered the room, and more in the hallway. A used wash cloth from the previous occupants had been left in the shower. There was a spider in the shower and cob webs in the bathroom. Carpet and ceiling were stained, and the whole place was in a state of disrepair. Expedia listed the room as having breakfast, but it did not.

It was clean, quit, and the manager was very attentive
