MainStay Suites Wichita Northeast

The smell in the room was just tolerable. We had to change rooms once because the non smoking room smelled like cigarettes the second room smelled like cigarettes and cooked cabbage.

First impression was that the common areas were dirty. There was furniture and towels in the hallway leading to our room. The elevator and hallway carpet looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a long time. The room REEKED of cigarette smoke. My wife also thought that it smelled of wet dog. There were poop stains in the toilet, and the bathroom floors were cruddy. The icemaker in the refrigerator did not work, and there were no ice makers at the hotel. The refrigerator also had dirt and leftover food in the crisper drawer. The staff tried to help, but it often seemed like there was only one person on duty most of the time. Very poor facility.

Bed was clean, bathroom was clean, towels clean, floors and carpet were not clean at all! left track marks everytime went in the bathroom

This was our first time at a MainStay Suites hotel. There is no lobby & can be very crowded trying to check-in if others are present also. Pretty plain-jane facility...room was nice an cool temp wise when we entered. Bed was fine also sheets nice too. Bathroom floor seemed sticky as did the carpet. All the rest seemed clean-bathroom door was punched in-fist sized.

When we checked in the front dest was unoccupied had to pick up ph and call. Area was very dirty. All hallways looked as if they had not been cleaned in many months. Felt like we were not sure if we should check in there. But the room was clean. Light in bathroom was falling off wall. No ice in fridge or ice machine. Overall we will look for another place next time.

The location was perfect for us. Convenient to the clinic where I had appts. Even though we made reservations at least a week in advance, to stay from Sunday evening until Friday morning, on our arrival we were told there were no handicap accessible rooms available! I showed her my computer printout, she made a phone call and said there is a room, it has been cleaned, but the bed is not made, so we will have it ready in a few minutes. Okay. Next day, when we came back from my appointment, the room had not been cleaned. The best she could do is exchange our dirty towels for clean. The rest of the four days, we hung up our towels. But the room had the roll in shower and NEEDED to be mopped. We had no access to a mop! They did not service our room once. We had to take out the trash ourselves... Out the back door to the dumpster over rough grassy terrain. And the key cards did not work to open the door to come back in. He took his cell phone with him after the first time he got locked out, and called me to let him back in. We were in a handicap accessible room for a reason! This was difficult for my husband, and we were there for medical appointments for me! The Internet was very unstable. We were able to log on only once, but could not maintain connection. The door key cards had to be reprogrammed almost every day. By Thursday, she told us that if it is kept near a cellphone it will erase the access code. I never heard that before, but okay. We were leaving in the morning.

Night 1 I flushed the toilet and it overflowed. I quickly turned off water and threw the towels on the floor. I called the front desk. They said they would be up. They brought me a plunger, 2 trash bags, and towels. I had to plunge the toilet myself and clean up the mess (when I plunged the water turned brown…I did not poo). This should have been their job. It was disgusting. I called the desk again and said I was done. They said to place the plunger and towels in the hall (I put everything in the clear trash bags). The bag with the plunger and bag of dirty towels were still in the hall when I left 2 days later. I will never stay at this hotel again.

I booked three days at this hotel because it was a block from the hospital where my husband was going to be having surgery front desk. Staff was fairly nice the room was adequate. It only had one bed which I guess is pretty normal for this hotel but I didn’t have any housekeeping for the whole three days I was there no trash dump no clean linens no bed linens no fresh towels and wash clause and every time I came or went towards the elevator on the second floor and down on the ground floor, you could smell marijuana very strongly. I mentioned it a couple of times to the front desk that didn’t seem to be a bother to them and then on the last day, and I had to carry all my luggage down two flights of stairs.

We have been coming to this hotel for the past 5 years for bowling tournament and it has slowly declined over the years but this year was the worst. First, the power outlets in the bathroom do not work. The side doors of the hotel will allow you to leave but you cannot get back in through those doors as there are no outside handles. People would prop the doors open so there was no security, anyone and everyone could come in the hotel regardless if they were staying there or not. The hotel is filthy, trash everywhere. Only two towels in the bathroom, my wife uses at least two, one for her hair and the other to wrap around herself. When I called the front desk to ask if I could come grab two more they said "give me 5 minutes and we will bring them". After waiting 20 minutes and standing in the shower with no towel, my wife called the desk and they proceeded to tell her to bring the two dirty towels and they would give us two more. They tell her only two towels per room. What!? only two towels. So needless to say we will never stay there again.

Hall to our room was filthy and smelled horrible. Our room had a smell of bad weed. And staff was not friendly. We have stayed there several times over the years, but we will not stay there ever again.
