I was so impressed with the stay at Stonewall Motor Lodge. It was clean, quiet, and all around such a cute lodging area. This is a place that my husband and I will be coming back to again and again!

"A very pleasant surprise!"

We didn't know what to expect. We figured it would be between modest and rough. To our surprise, the rooms were recently renovated, the king size bed was very comfortable, the shower was wonderful, the small fridge was a cute retro, there was an "old" retro radio, & a nice TV. Wifi is available in the room. To enjoy streaming TV you get to visit the barn on the property. Beyond the barn are picnic tables, outdoor seating for groups to visit, and more. It's a quaint venue and we very much enjoyed our stay. A special shout out to Seth & Cricket, our hosts.

"A peaceful spot until nightfall…"

It’s a good location for exploring Hill Country, remote yet on the main road. Comfortable room and simple check-in.

I’m not sure how much to fault the property here, but it’s worth a note. Cricket season in central Texas can be pretty brutal - this I knew. As dusk fell, thousands of big, black crickets carpeted the parking area. This wouldn’t be an issue, except that many found a way into the room. Some came under the door, others found their way through the bathroom. It’s possible others came through the a/c or other means? I couldn’t figure out how they were all getting in, and killed at least a dozen, but even with a towel under wedged under the door I had more guests. Having crickets jump onto you while in bed is a harrowing experience. The motel should do a bit of retrofitting to correct for this. There’s no doubt that housekeeping found dead (or live) crickets everywhere once I left. For those afraid of insects, best to avoid in September.

We stayed 3 nights. When we arrived the room was clean. The room did not get cleaned after that. Disappointed with that. Had to go to office for clean towels.
