"Bates Motel"

I travel a lot of work and pleasure, and this is by far the nastiest hotel I've ever stayed in. I thought that since it was close to the medical centers and people stay there because their families are getting treatment that it would be a nice hotel. Wrong!! The lobby hallways smelled like a day-old rock concert, everything is terribly outdated, all the furniture in my room had rips in it, there were stains on the carpet, the curtains were falling off the rods, the AC units didn't work properly and sounded like a jet engine - one had a used Q-Tip and food particles in it!! The outlets by the sink didn't work, no one told me at check in there was a trick to turning the shower on, the shower didn't have a liner; just a flimsy shower curtain so water went everywhere - clearly not the first time since the faux wood floor linoleum was buckled, the bathtub had also been painted and was peeling, one of the beds in the double room was broken, and the outdoor key box to get back into the hotel from a side entrance didn't work so anyone could get into the hotel. I was there for business and got very little sleep, the front desk seemed uninterested when I shared what was going on with the room and I wasn't offered any compensation when I told the front desk about the used Q-Tip in the AC Unit. I don't recommend ANYONE stay at this nasty, unsanitary hotel.

"It was the worst of times…."

4.0

The stay was not good. We selected the hotel due to its proximity to the medical center. But the hotel is really in bad condition. The tub and surround were peeling but worse than that the flooring in the bathroom was peeling up so bad that the subfloor was exposed. Stained corridor carpet, stale smells in the room—which we got people cook in the rooms. When morning came it was before 8:30am and the response to where the breakfast was that was advertised with the room, the desk clerk just said, “Oh, they’re out.” The bed and linens were clean.

Cons: This hotel is now known to us as the Cockroach Hotel. The room was infested with roaches crawling along the floor and over furniture. The roaches were even stuck in the overhead lights and hadn’t been cleaned out! We reported this to the front desk but they did not do anything about it. The hotel is not well maintained. The inside lobby is dingy, needs a fresh coat of paint and has a stale smell. The hallway doors and walls also need a coat of paint as there is peeling paint and scuffs, dents. The hallway carpets need steam cleaning as they are stained. The walls inside the rooms look like they haven’t been painted since 1998 when the hotel was built. The bath’s surface was badly peeling off and the bathroom light was dim. The floors were dirty. I wiped up some water in the bathroom and my cloth was black. The hotel has a motel feel. The washbasin is outside the bathroom which is not convenient. The drawers in the kitchen area hadn’t been cleaned. It would been useful to have something to plug cell phones into by the bed and without having to pull out the bedside table. The window screens were dirty so it was difficult to see out. The only way you could get a fresh towel was to bring the dirty towel to the front desk and get a fresh one. The drapes were dirty and had holes in them. The breakfast was COVID style to go. Instant oats, muffin, Nutrigrain bar. Pros: The air conditioners worked and the beds were fairly comfortable. They need to invest in new pillows.

"Not bad"

We had a great stay. The room was mostly clean except a few spots and old dried up contact lenses on the night stand. Overall this wasn't a vacation stay but we did enjoy the space. The hotel had a lot of room. The TV didn't turn all the way to face the bed and we couldn't change the picture seeing. The front desk did come up to show us how to work the shower instead of trying to tell us on the phone. He came really quick too so greatly appreciate that.

I stayed there 2 weeks prior and the room smelled OK. It seemed pretty clean until I saw some cockroaches around the bathroom in the morning. That didn't bother me too much, but the smell of the 2nd planned stay was overwhelming. I was offered a cancellation and full refund to move to another hotel because they had no rooms left. I have not seen the credit yet at this time, and am hoping to see it soon.
