Red Roof Inn Hickory

Not a good area. Felt very uncomfortable and unsafe. Not a very nice hotel at all. The one staff member we saw was very friendly though.

On the morning of Saturday Nov 2 around 9 am , I saw the manager outside my room and asked to please have all 3 of our room cleaned , since they had not been cleaned in a week. The female manager told me she would clean them for us that day. Fast forward Saturday evening, I went to the lobby and complained to the same female manager that our rooms were not cleaned, she in turn called the police on me, 3 police officers showed up to my room and told me we had an hour to leave the hotel, I was very upset to say the least , there were no hotels available in the area and we had to book a room 20 minutes further west on interstate 40, this caused us to now have to drive over an hour each way to our project we were working on. I’ve already complained with with a booking.com rep. who took my complaint over the phone. I was told by the same female manager the night she kicked us out that I would get a full refund for the next week we had the same 3 rooms reserved for, I have not seen my refund yet ??? Your rep. That took my complaint over the phone also indicated she would get my $2,000.00 plus refunded to me and she would get back in touch with me and it’s been over a week and I have not heard from anyone at booking .com about making this right for us.

I was traveling from NY and had to drive to Asheville for a wedding... but the woman at the front desk was kind of rude and not so welcoming at 1:30pm when I arrived and asked if I could check in early as I had to get changed. She said absolutely not - so I drove to Asheville, changed in the car. Drove back out and luckily the overnight staff member was kind and nice given the situation. I only got to sleep 3.5 hours before having to drive to CLT to fly out. When I woke up - there were little critters walking around near the bathroom... so that didn't make me happy. I guess you get what you pay for right. The bed was comfortable and they had nice pillows... so that was a plus for them.

No remote to tv, no microwave, no refrigerator. Bath tub dirty. Cigarette hole in comforter, shades were broken. Graffiti on the walls. Room 113.

Location

No view as they gave away my room before I got there. I had booked and paid online and by the time I got there they had given away my room. I was from out of town working as a nurse and had to get sleep for my next shift. The lady (if you could call her that) at the desk was extremely rude. Basically told me"Oh well, I gave your room away" When I explained I had already paid for the room she stated" well I dont have a room for you" I asked for my money to be returned immediately so I could get another room somewhere but she got her manager on the phone and manager said " just because you book and pay for a room does not guarantee you have a room" . Obviously this was the first time I had heard of that because I thought when you buy something you actually get it. FYI, place on the outside was GROSS,, dog feces in the grass in front of the office, people hanging around outside their doors smoking marijuana. Just gross.

Roaches, roaches, roaches! 😳 Then the smoke alarm went off at 6 something in the morning. The office lady gave us a new battery. We put it in and got a little more sleep before we had to get up. While we were getting ready all my husband did was spray cologne on and it went off again for some reason. The bathroom had moisture damage on the ceiling. We reported the roach problem and she said she would get someone to spray after checkout and did apologize.
