The rooms are clean, comfortable, complete with a kitchenette, desk space for work, TV, and bathroom. There is also a fitness center guests can use, and a small on-the-go breakfast (coffee, tea, muffins, oatmeal) is served daily, and there are extra toiletries (comb, toothbrush, toothpaste, razor) available at the front desk upon request. Overall, the hotel is pretty basic, but that is NOT a bad thing. You will not be blown away as you would if you were staying at a Ritz Carlton, however you will be blown away by the service and the incredible value available here. You will get everything you need to get by at this location and it will be at a much better price than many of the surrounding hotels. Definitely worth a look. The value here is phenomenal, however the reason I will continue coming back to this location is because of the incredible service I have experienced during each and every one of my stays. The General Manager at this location, Marquita, has never failed to impress me during any of my 5+ stays here. She is so friendly, polite, down to earth, and will do everything she can to make sure you feel safe and comfortable staying here. I work night shift and am often in and out of town for work. Because of this, I am often in a situation where I arrive in the area outside of standard check in time... Marquita always does her best to work with me (within reason) to see if there is a way she can get me in sooner so that I don't have to sleep in my car or find something to do until the standard 3pm check in time. She has, on several different occasions, personally went up to a room to ensure it is cleaned to HER standards before assigning that one to me. I feel like she always goes above and beyond to make me feel welcome, and she often jumps in and does things that many other general managers would pick up the phone and delegate, rather than do themselves. Marquita is a very genuine, hardworking human, and I can tell that she takes so much pride in running and maintaining the facilities here. Extended Stay America may not be a 5 star hotel, but I have always enjoyed my stay and will keep coming back with confidence because I know I am in good hands!

Management and staff were very accommodating to my special needs. The room was clean and quiet. Parking lot was well lit. Will definitely come back and recommend to family & friends who visit Ann Arbor.

Great people just when I thought no more good people in the world BAM I was wrong so there you go people I would definitely stay there again for sure kinda sad to leave but the show must go on and it's on to the next job and GO VIKINGS

My son was getting discharged from Mott Children’s Hospital in Ann Arbor, but was still going to require an additional 4 weeks of Monday through Friday radiation and weekly chemotherapy. This was on top of his daily PT/OT/Speech and Dr. appointments. We live almost 2 hours north of Ann Arbor, and commuting daily was not going to be an option. After 45 days in the hospital, 4 hours a day in a car for 4 weeks was something we weren’t willing to put him through. When I called Extended Stay America to inquire about discounted lodging for Mott patient’s, the representative put me through to the American Cancer Society. Extended Stay America has an affiliation with the American Cancer Society, and can offer discounted - free rooms for people traveling over 40 miles for treatment based on availability. I took them up on the offer and booked a room. I was a little worried that a free room at a hotel was going to be a dump, but I was definitely wrong! The room we were given was handicap accessible (my son is using a wheelchair and walker), clean and very spacious. The staff were aware of why we were staying there and have been very accommodating. Every time we pass through the lobby on our way to and from appointments, they address us by name, and ask us if there is anything we need, and if everything is good. I love the fact that the room has a full kitchen, and we have a pullout couch along with the Queen bed so we don’t have to share a bed. Coffee and snacks in the morning along with clean towels daily are nice when rushing an immunocompromised kid around Ann Arbor. Extended Stay America and their staff have turned what I expected to be a nightmare of an experience into a very pleasant and safe one. As my son has continued to heal, this time at the Extended Stay America has given us a place to bond with him during his recovery, avoid close to 100 hours of travel time, along with peace of mind that he wouldn’t pick up an infection while at their hotel because of it’s cleanliness. Thank you Extended Stay America, and to all of your staff at the Detroit-Ann Arbor-University South location. Your kindness and generosity will never be forgotten, and will definitely be paid forward!❤️🙏
