"Great rooms if you get the right location."

I like the ambience in the atmosphere, and the location of the property. The breakfast is really good. And staff is very friendly.I like the ambience in the atmosphere, and the location of the property. The breakfast is really good. And staff is very friendly.

I am 68 years old and did not find it very easy to climb two flights of stairs to get to my room which was room 20 by the way. I struggled every time. My knees ached! I would leave the hotel and dread coming back and facing those stairs! It was terrible as far as the stairs. No, no, no to the stairs!

"Disappointing for a 4 star hotel."

4.0

1 For a 4 star hotel it is unacceptable that it has no car park adjacent to the hotel. It was remote and unavailable. 2 We were not shown that the card holder that controlled all electrical items was behind the TV that was fixed to the wall. We had to hunt for it. 3 Across the room between the entrance to bed area is a timber beam that is below head height. This had to be manoeuvred under - very dangerous at night. Anyone taller than 5 foot tall would have a problem. Not warned about this.

"Location, location, location but no substance for the high price tag"

4.0

Firstly I will say that this hotel has a fabulous location with great views from the terrace over the river, great for watching what happens on the water. We checked in and understood that it was very busy due to Royal Ascot. I explained that I had injured my knee and was walking with a stick however we were told there was no alternative room to the one we were allocated on the 3rd floor of the main building with no lift. Up the stairs we go (very slowly), up a few stairs, down a few stairs past the beer kegs piled up in the hallway to the main staircase, very narrow steep steps with a poor handrail which you couldn't grip the further up the floors to the attic room due to it being right against the wall. Thanks to having to take the steps sideways to ensure I didn't fall I am now sporting bruises on both of my ankles from the metal strips edging each step. The room itself was ok in size (not big but not tiny) however was very tired with chunks out of both the walls and skirting boards. The wardrobe was not great and was not suitable to hang dresses so these had to be hung from the shower rail. The bathroom was a good size and bright however the sealant on both the wall and floor tiles could have done with a good scrub/replacement. The shower was good but the water drained poorly in the sink. The bed was comfortable and the sheets and towels were good. Be aware that bottled water is only complimentary on your first night, over £400 a night for a poor room and they couldn't even give you fresh water each day. On check out day there was a maintenance man filling holes in the staircase so on top of having no option but to grip the handrail this was now absolutely filthy with dust from the areas he had sanded down. Positives include the great outside terrace and the lovely brasserie. The food we ate was tasty. I know Windsor is busy and perhaps the hotel is full all year round however it's certainly time the hotel paid attention to the rooms rather than just the outer facade and public areas. My 2 out of 5? 1 for the location and 1 for the public areas.
