Tabacón Thermal Resort & Spa

The resort is top notch! Rooms were comfortable and had a great view of the volcano. They provided a single bed for our son. Thermal spas were great. Breakfast was fantastic. I highly recommend doing the Tico Chef experience - at the hotel. It was delicious and fun!

Top notch experience. We went for a day pass with dinner and it surpassed our expectations. Its so nice and aesthetic that truly captures the pura vida lifestyle. Amazing and will do it again in a heartbeat.

The resort is a dream and the staff are wonderful. We loved that the thermal springs closed at 10pm. I will be coming again in the near future.

Food was fair and pricey. View from the room was great! Hot Springs were busy and too many kids. Not enough detail was given when checking in about Adult Only Hot spring area. We didn't know what the "gardens" were that was included. It would have been nice to know that it was hot springs as well. Won't be back.

The overall visit was excellent. We had the best experience with Alejandro who was the server at the restaurant at the Hot Springs. Definitely come back and ask for him when you go to the restaurant.

We (two adults + one 15-year old) had a truly wonderful week at Tabacon. Everything exceeded our expectations. Every staff member was so friendly but professional - the customer-facing staff speak excellent English but were also happy to let us practice our (minimal) Spanish. Our room (Orchid) was lovely - it was very comfortable, immaculately clean, and the air conditioning worked very well. We weren't sure what to expect from the food because the reviews we read were mixed, but everything we ordered was just delicious, and the breakfast options were more than satisfactory (eggs/ omelets to order, plus scrambled eggs, rice and beans, and a variety of hot dishes, plus many delicious fruits, salads, and pastry options, and fresh yogurt - and really good coffee!). We really enjoyed our two dinners at Tucanes and our meals at Ave, where we mostly stuck to the "Tico Flow" dishes and were never disappointed. We were pleasantly surprised to find that a limited lunch and dinner menu was also available at the small bar/ coffee counter in the lobby, as well as some sweet snacks and salads/ sandwiches to go, and we used this option several times for a quicker meal. The gym is small but met our needs, and we ended up spending just as much time at the hotel pool (open 10-6) as at the hot springs - same warm water and comfortable seating, and it was generally less crowded (although we also found quieter areas at the hot springs, too). The landscaping throughout is beautiful. We all hope to be back some day!

Tabacon Thermal Resort & Spa was the most beautiful resort with amazing views. We had the volcano view from our room and the rainforest view just steps away. Amazing!!!

This property is like something out of a dream or a movie set. The most beautiful gardens and natural river/pools are absolute paradise. We spent 3 nights and could've stayed longer. I will always consider this one of my most favorite resorts I've visited in the world, and I've been everywhere.

Our family had a wonderful day at Tabacon! It was the first visit to Arenal/Fortuna for my husband and son and it had been 30 years for me. When I first visited the area in my 20s, I was not able to go to Tabacon and knew we had to go when we planned our trip to Costa Rica! The baths and nature at Tabacon are beautiful and serene. The staff are friendly and helpful. We ended our evening with dinner at Ave restaurant at the Tabacon hot springs. The food was inventive and delicious! Our server, Alejandro, made our night through his recommendations, encouragement to use my Spanish and resourcefulness in finding delicious dairy-free desserts:) Highly recommend a trip to Tabacon!
