Lovely hotel across the street from Philadelphia City Hall and a very short walk to Reading Terminal Market.

1. Hotel staff did not permit us to use restrooms outside workout room. 2. Paid for included breakfast. Was told it included anything on menu. Then charged for "overage." Explanation of the way it works should be provided prior to customers ordering.

Excellent location.

The location was great, right across from the Reading Food Market & walkable to most tourist attractions.

The check-in felt like the staff was trying to upsell me on a better room. For only $70 I could get a two bedroom suite. Why does a single guy need a two bedroom suite? Then for $50, I could get a bigger room. If I wanted a bigger room, I would’ve booked one. Of course, the room that I wanted was not available two hours before official check in time, despite the hotel, seeming half empty. Yet these bigger rooms were all available.

The hotel overall was very nice. Really love the history. Room was well appointed. But the pillows were awful. Round cylinder type pillows that were very high and they were terrible for one's neck. Bed was very hard. Towels very rough. It would be nice if there was a towel rack at the sink for one's face or hand towel. And please fix the curtain so that the gap at the end does not expose sunlight, maybe a snap on the wall to snap the end to to fix the issue. This property is close to the Convention Center and Reading Market, which unfortunately closes at 6PM so if you want to check it out make sure you go before 6pm.
