Staff were very friendly and helpful. I loved the period character of the hotel. Rooms was comfortable and well appointed. We were visiting our daughter who is at UC Berkley so very convenient!

I did use the gym but it could do with a refresh!

This has been my go-to hotel every time I’m in the Berkeley area. I love a good historical hotel. The rooms are great; the employees are wonderful; I love rolling out of bed and onto the BART. Occasionally there is some street noise, but nothing earplugs can’t fix (note I live in a pretty urban area so I’m more used to it than some people may be.) It’s also worth noting the food at Zino is great! Thanks for 3 great stays so far and hopefully many more to come!

"Too cold for comfort"

Great location, right next to a BART station. Clean room. Customer service was awful. The housekeepers were still cleaning my room at 5:30 pm when I got back from my conference. The room was FREEZING cold. The next day, after I asked, someone at the front desk told me to switch to "heat" (and explained how to do it), which I did. I also requested a blanket which he said they would deliver to my room but that never happened, and on the second night, after switching to "heat" and cranking up the temperature, my room was still very cold. The hotel only provides a thin blanket, barely heavier than a sheet. I would never stay there again.

It's a great location. The historic facade and parts of its interior still have their charm.

1) The hotel refuses to issue an invoice. 2) There were no toiletries (apart from shampoo and soap). 3) Gym is a joke. 4) The quality/price ratio of breakfast was subpar.

Great location, friendly and quick service. Quiet if you don't open windows.

Very small bathroom. The bathroom sliding door is designed in a way that you can't close it properly, quite inconvenient. No drinking water in the room of a 4-star hotel, disappointing.
