"Fabulous hotel!"

10.0

This hotel is in a brilliant location. Practically on the beach in beautiful St Brelades Bay. Add to that the best staff, lovely breakfast and comfortable spotlessly clean surroundings and you have the perfect hotel. We had the best time, sand and sea plus lovely walks to St Aubins and Portelet in one direction and Beauport in the other direction. Well done to the hotel management and staff for a perfect stay!

"Great hotel, amazing location. Some modernisation would make it outstanding"

8.0

The good, the bad and the island (if you are visiting Jersey for the first time like me). The good - The view from the hotel is outstanding. Stepping onto the balcony and having the sea that close, hearing the waves at night and being able to just walk downstairs to a superb beach is amazing. Little boats appear in the bay and disappear. The sand is perfectly clean. The shops and restaurants next to it are "beachy" and classy. The staff on reception were super friendly and helped keep our suitcases whilst arriving early. The car park behind was public but not at all expensive (about £6 a day when we went), free after 6pm and on Sundays. Room felt a bit small but, I've stayed in worse. Bathroom clean and everything worked. Wifi was free, fast and worked fine. The hotel was nice and tidy. Breakfast, whilst having limited options, was acceptable. Bed was comfortable. Other guests were mostly older people, small families. No problems with noisy tourists or drunken yobs (that you might worry about at a beach side hotel). The bad- There is no aircon in this hotel. If you go when it is hot, you will roast like a chicken. It killed me for the first two nights. What you get instead is a small fan in your room. No good. This was a real miss. Decor feels a little 80's and the corridors are small (very low ceilings), stuffy and weird. It feels a little old school and tired in places. Average age of client was 78. Mobility scooters parked in various places. Restaurant appears to close for food orders at 8:30pm and there was no room service option we could find. This seems to be common in Jersey, things close early - but it seemed odd a hotel would shut this option down at such an early time? The island - Jersey is beautiful. Clean, super safe and weirdly, has unbelievably good driving standards?! (compared to the UK at least!) In the summer the beaches are amazing. SO clean. Not a shopping trolley in sight. However, it felt, for me, like it's at a bit of a cross roads? The tourism it seems to get is mostly families (with young children who want an easy beach holiday) or older people, mostly from the UK, who want to look at war memorials with misty eyes and feel nostalgic about the past and some sense of pride over events they likely weren't at. And the island reflects this. Things feel "old." It reminded me of England in the 1980's. Restaurants close early and seem fiendishly expensive (a decent restaurant lunch in St Hellier can easily cost you £90-£100). Even the airport closes at 9pm!? There aren't seemingly many (if any?) late night bars and the tourist places are mostly historical and war based? Winston Churchill everything. If you like to get up early, have your dinner early, look at war statues, love Nigel Farage and think brexit was a great way to get back at Germany, you are covered here. But outside of this, there isn't a lot going on? This I think means it's missing out on lots of other demographics and other types of tourism that are possible? 30-40 something professionals like me, or 20-something younger party animals, aren't really catered too as much here. It's a nice break... but it feels like there is a lot more that could be offered. Jersey needs to realise that its 65+ year old Vera Lynn fans aren't going to be around forever. It's got to look to the future IF it wants tourism. It may not want tourism? It clearly has a lot of VERY wealthy individuals judging by the number of mansions and Mclarens - so maybe tourism is less interesting for them than financial services? If so, thats fine. Thats for the people of Jersey to decide. But it does have so much potential (40 min flight from the UK, everyone speaks English and there are NO passport requirements?) there is so much more with tourism they could do if they wanted to, with just a little modernisation and little thinking out side the box? Tourism doesn't have to be ONLY over 65's OR drunken stag parties. You don't HAVE to be a retirement home or Ibiza. There are shades of beautiful colour in between.

"Excellent beach view hotel"

10.0

A first class hotel with excellent customer service throughout. The location is perfect, overlooking the beach, and creates a “Wow!” moment when you enter your room (assuming you have a sea view).

"Amazing hotel with the best staff"

10.0

Where do I start, from the time my sister and I entered the reception to be met by Brilliant, yes that’s her name, we knew we had booked an excellent stay. The hotel which is situated right on the beach with breathtaking views of St Brelade’s bay is the perfect choice for R&R. The food at the hotel is superb as are the cocktails which we did indulge in happy hour. Now down to what makes this hotel, and it’s all the staff that work there, all happy, smiling and can’t do enough for you. We did have our favourite few, but no names, you’ll have to visit and make your own decision. We will definitely return to this wonderful hotel in the future. Keep doing what you’re doing Golden Sands. Philipa & Jayne

"Best hotel on Jersey made better by wonderful staff"

10.0

From the wonderful welcome to the time I sadly had to depart, I had a fantastic time. Each stay gets better and better. This was my 3rd time here and it definitely won't be my last. As a solo guest I always feel safe and very comfortable. I was stunned to have been upgraded on arrival to a Superior Sea View and Balcony room which was spacious and welcoming, with that fantastic view over the Bay. My room was kept immaculate by Anthony, who is a credit to your team. Food in La Brise was excellent as was the service, always with a smile. Best of all are the staff, who clearly love their roles and have the guest at the heart of everyting they do. I must say a huge special "Thank you" all the staff, but an extra special mention to Mojo, Gladys and Brilliant (and Anthony) who made my stay extra special. I'm so looking forward to coming back again later this year. (Apologies as I had written a review when I got home but realise it wasn't posted.)

This hotel is amazing. Staff are so friendly and helpful, and welcoming. They work very hard to ensure your stay is everything you want. I am lucky and have been yravelling a lot but this hotel is one of the best I've ever stayed in. The food in the restaurant for dinner is also amazing. I cannot recommend this hotel enough and the owners are very lucky to have and everyone of their staff members. Thank you!

"Excellent service"

We arrived in Jersey quite early in the morning - check in wasn’t until 3 o’clock but they let us leave our bags while we went to have a look around. Reception phoned at 11.45 to say our rooms were ready which was very welcome! Rooms were amazing and very clean
