Saxenburg Wine Farm

Het uitzicht,de vrijheid en de ontzettend vriendelijke mensen die er werkzaam zijn. De zebra’s en springbokken lopen in de tuin. En niet te vergeten de voortreffelijke wijnen die Saxenburg allemaal op eigen terrein produceert. En ook restaurant The Cattle Baron, dat op het terrein gesitueerd is en voortreffelijk eten voorschotelt. De chateaubriand is echt fantastisch!

Der Auftritt im Internet war gut, wir hatten uns gefreut auf einem Weingut zu übernachten.

Die Zufahrt war noch ganz ok, zum Haus mit den Appartments geht dann über Stock und Stein. Die Einrichtunge ist sehr in die Jahr gekommen, die Küche schmuddelig. Die Armlehnen vom Sofa waren mit Stoff abgedeckt und die Flecken zu verbergen. Die Ausstattung lieblos, der Eingang voller Käfer länger nicht gewischt. Das Bad war ganz OK aber alles andere ungenügend. Für ein Weingut das ben besten Shiraz der Welt produziert - inakzeptabel. Die Reise haben wir nach einer nacht abgebrochen und uns eine neue Unterkunft gesucht.

Lovely cottage that made for comfortable accommodation for my family (including 2 elderly parents). The kids also loved cooling off in the pool. We stayed over the weekend so didn't get to interact much with the staff, but those we did encounter were very friendly. The restaurant was also great (Warren was a fantastic waiter who took very good care of us). Overall lovely experience!

The apartment is comfortable and have an amazing view! We could also use the pool and my son really enjoyed to be so close to the vineyards and pass by the animals in the park every time we got to the farm. The farm is close to the airport but also only 30 minutes from Cape Town and 20 minutes from Stellenbosch. So we could visit both easily. There is a supermarket 10 minutes away by car. Security was also important for us, and they have a security guarita that controls everyone that is in or out. One night we were tired and didn’t want to leave so we had dinner at the restaurant they have in the farm.

We loved that we had no neighbors, no noise, we could braai outside, we felt safe and secure, we had a huge place to park with our large trailer right outside our cottage. Evening and early morning owls were swooping around and appear to be nesting in the barn roof next door, which was wonderful to see. We could also see Zebra, springboks, Impala, and wildebeest from our verandah. Mandy was so accommodating when my son broke his collar bone, and we needed stay an extra day.

The only negative comment is the lack of a two prong plug adaptor, but we bought one close by. Ooo, and don't bother going to the on-site but not affiliated Cattle Baron restaurant....the food is awful, staff sulky and unprofessional with miserable attitude and atmosphere, which is a pity as it's very convenient.
