Stayed at the CAYO last week you will not be disappointed, the views are amazing the hotel is built into hill side rooms are comfortable and offer all amenities you would expect for a 5 star. I stayed in a superior pool view room As I wanted the pool which is the with of the balcony which has a wonderful view . I enjoyed so much ihave booked again. For next year. My only disappointment is the beach is stones and pebbles and can be very tricky to get into sea . The reception area of hotel is very small and can be chaotic when busy with people checking in but staff always acknowledge you when ever you pass by . All the staff are friendly can’t wait to return

Truly outstanding hotel. Wonderful staff, immaculately clean rooms, great a/c, stunning cocktails and a relaxed vibe. The attention to detail was evident everywhere from the shuttle down to Plaka, housekeeping and the speed and efficiency of the room service. Nothing was too much trouble and every single member of staff was friendly, polite and efficient. Highly recommended!

Private pool and balcony with room is great. Breakfasts are lovely. Staff very helpful and friendly.

Room is clean, plenty of space, amazing view over the sea and Spinalonga. Private pool is worth a 5 star review on its own but the rest of the hotel adds even more, definitely worth it.

Just back from an amazing week at Cayo Resort… We booked an Executive Room with pool but got a very welcome upgrade to an Executive Suite, so had a bigger balcony, room and a lounge area which was brilliant! The room was beautiful and allowed us to enjoy mornings watching the sun rise, lazy afternoons and early evening drinks, we even had room service dinner one night on the balcony, the Gorgonzola, pear pizza and Greek salad where amazing! The rooms are cleaned daily, beds made and changed every other day along with an evening service of bottled water, towels and sweet treats given a true 5* service! Everything was just perfect from the service to the staff being so helpful, warm and friendly, always with a smile! All the staff were excellent but Margarita was brilliant on breakfast and lunch service. The food which is outstanding for an hotel was so tasty we where B&B so didn’t sample the buffet dinner but had breakfast, lunch at the restaurant and by the pool and tried the A La Carte Restaurant which was amazing! The Sea Bream starter and Lamb main exceptional! We ventured out and went to Elounda, Spinalonga Island (via boat trip) and Agios Nickolas but have to say the food and service at the hotel and down in the little village of Plaka (5 minute walk) or quick hotel shuttle bus trip was the best, we are booking again and will stay local and enjoy the hotel and Plaka as they are outstanding.

We had an amazing time here, I think we just about had the best room in the hotel, room 807 which was at the top of the hotel made easily accessible by the funicular. It was a superb room, lovely views and the outside space was great getting the sun all day, I think others do not, so if I was staying here again I would request this room. If you are after a hustle and bustle hotel this is not the one for you but we loved walking into Plaka and eating at one of the restaurants, it is very low key which was fine for us. We enjoyed eating and then going for a drink at Bar Epico, Elias here was great and welcomed you every night. Elounda is only a cab ride away at 10 euros if you wanted more and then 25 euros ride to Agios Niklaos. One point to add is that the hotel is not the rip off type and we were reasonably priced for drinks and snacks. We ate at the Kelari gourmet restaurant in the hotel once which was fine but really preferred the local restaurants and the fresh fish was second to none. Just read a review on here giving the hotel a one star rating and I suppose everyone is impressed by different things but I cannot say this was my impression of the resort. We have stayed at the Nana Princess in Hersonissos twice now (regarded as one of the best in Crete) and I can honestly say I preferred this hotel for their room and view. Breakfast not as good as the Princess but you are paying a lot more there. All in all we would love to go back in the future.

CAYO is amazing. We spent the first few days of our honeymoon here and I am happy we did. The staff was upbeat, on top of everything, and went out of their way to make sure our stay was everything we wanted it to be. On first night we received the most wonderful cake and bottle of wine as a wedding present. The cake was so perfect that it didn't look real. Plaka, the surrounding town arean, is so quiet and relaxing; no hustle and bustle traffice and noise. If you are looking to relax in a peaceful setting with excellent views then this is the place to be. Eloundas is a short drive with plenty of dining and shopping if you feel like getting out. One negative for some is the beach. If you want a sandy beach, this isn't it. CAYO's beach restaurant (which is a short shuttle ride away because the hotel is not on the water) is called Stone Beach for a reason. While the stones may not be everyone's ideal material, it does make for a very relaxing audio experience when the waves hit the beach. When I am in Crete again I would go out of my way to stay at CAYO, if only for a night. I wish we had spent our entire honeymoon at this resort.

Avoid at all cost, the staff the worst that you would come across from the manger to the porter, unclean rooms and bathrooms and very poor room maintenance and through out our stay. Set down is promised but staff would not turn up. There were bugs everywhere bees at breakfast, fruit flies and Centipedes throughout the room. You will be charged for things and asked to pay without clarity and transparency…. The hotel is 4 1/2 hours away from the beautiful beaches of Chania and other major attractions in Crete. It was a very poor choice … if I can give it minus marks I would…
