Grótta Northern Lights - Apartment & Rooms

It was a beautiful apartment in a nice location not far from the centre of Reykjavik.

Die Unterkunft liegt in einer ruhigen Wohngegend, zum Hafen von Reykjavik sind es nur 5 Minuten mit dem Auto. Man kann toll am Meer spazieren gehen. Die Ausstattung ist eher einfach, etwas abgewohnt, aber gemütlich. Es gibt eine kleine Terrasse mit Tisch und Bänken. Die Gemeinschaftsküche ist recht eng, aber wir haben hier auch nur den Wasserkocher genutzt, daher war das kein Problem für uns. Die Betten waren bequem.

Baño muy pequeño, olía raro, compartido con muchas habitaciones. Cocina compartida también pequeña.

The location wasn't bad - 5 min drive to central Reykjavik or to the lighthouse area, definitely not walkable. Parking right outside building was convenient, view out the window was great! Pull down blinds over windows but not light blocking completely which was ok since we were switching over timezones - would be annoying to try sleeping in.

Bed was quite uncomfortable - hard as a rock and very low - had one threadbare crocheted blanket between 2 of us or huge quilts - huge pillows were filled with little foam peices that deflated when laid on them, with no pillow cases (?hygienic), room was very hot and - was nowhere to put anything except for one small bedside table. Had to pre-pay for breakfast (08-1030 - 10 Euro each) so would assume we were expected, however when we arrived at 0900, pancakes cold, saysages cold, no butter, no bread left, no juices left - had to ask for coffee twice because staff were chatting rather than working. I could see if we weren't expected or late to breakfast, but this was not worth the price paid! Stayed here for budget accommodation, but would recommend to pay a little more & stay elsewhere.

Great location, with a wonderful view from the window.

Nice place in a calm residential area next to a quiet park. Easy street parking. Self check-in any time by code (ask for it by email). Don't repeat our mistake, keep voices quiet at night not to disturb a nice gentleman who lives in the separate area of the house. (I read that too late on a printed note inside; wish it was also in check-in notes.)

Location is very quiet yet convenient to downtown. And close to the local pool. We stayed in the Family Room which had a large bedroom with king bed separate from the living area with dining table and chairs and fold-out sofa.

Water in shower could have been hotter.
