AMAZING LOCATION! If you want a spot that’s simple, peaceful and has tons of views, this is the spot. 10 out of 10. Such a unique little place. And not overrun by tourists.

‼️⚠️WARNING⚠️‼️ To get to this hotel. Our taxi was stopped by a local just before the dock claiming that the public dock just down the road was closed/under construction. 🦺 This was not true! So we ended up paying private boat taxi to this scammer (read more for context). On the way to James Bond Bungalow the scam artist with Facebook name Penan Splashing Walter was very charming and wanted to make sure we were “happy” - “you happy I happy, you not happy you not come back not good for my business”. During this ride he offered us a boat tour (James Bond island, + other sites). We arrived at James Bond Bungalow and checked in. Our driver said hello and talked to the hotel owner/reception so we saw that as sign of that he was legit. Place was at beautiful location and scenery is special. We decided to book the boat tour with Penan. During the boat ride there was all these extra fees that we accepted. And then he took us to a location where he said it was a good location to swim. So we jump into the water and he left us there in the water, leaving with the boat without any explanation. Coming back about 15 min later, very odd but we didn’t comment on it. When we arrived at the hotel again, and where about to pay Penan his last 600 bath plus tip we realized that our money from the bag had been stolen while we were swimming at the last location. We ended up paying him the last 600 bath anyway to be clean from our end and he kept the money he stole. We told the owner of the stay about what happened. The owner told us he had been stealing phones previously. And I found it strange that the hotel let him run around freely using their dock and their customers. He was knocking on windows and doors of the hotel to find out where people were staying. We told some other guests about what was going on and they canceled the trip with him and left the island.

Fantastic location and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Food on this island was surprisingly fantastic.

Bathroom is basic but most people will only be staying for one night so not really a problem.

Very good hotel comparing to other alternatives in the area! Overall this island is quite specific, not everyone will like to stay here. But if you will then for sure this is the best hotel on the island. Top location , amazing views and no one around on the sunrise and sunset in Phang Nga bay (can you even imagine this??). Very helpful host who will support you, explain all the local attractions and things to do, suggest a great restaurant and also organize what you will like. No need to think about planning in advance, just book this hotel and in place you will decide which tour to take. Long boats cooperate directly with the hotel. E.g.: for 2500 tbh you will visit James bond island, caves with pick up and drop off included for a group of up to 5 people. There are no food options on the island after 16:00 but the host will still manage to get fried rice with chicken (very tasty btw)

My stay at James Bungalow in Koh Panyi was a wonderful experience, especially as a Muslim traveler. The atmosphere was welcoming and respectful, making me feel completely at ease. The bungalow itself was simple yet comfortable, and it blended well with the island's charm. I appreciated the opportunity to experience the local Muslim culture, from the food to the community’s warmth. It was a peaceful and enriching stay that I truly enjoyed.
