Lace Market Hotel

Great location

Having to walk up stairs with heavy suitcase. Room was a bit tired, curtains badly frayed, Aircon broken, couldn’t open windows as they were broken.

I booked this hotel 14months before, well in advance for 2 adults. The room priced at £143 and described as a small double. We expected a cosy double room. Check in opened at 3pm, we checked in at 4pm and were astonished to be allocated a tiny room with a bed pushed up against a wall and no room to move. The room was approx 6ft across and slightly wider where the bed was. The en-suite door could not fully open as it hit the toilet. A larger size person would have had to go through the door ‘sideways’ . We spoke to reception and they confirmed we had been given a single room! The hotel was full and we couldn’t change rooms. This was a birthday celebration for my husband planned over a year before. We looked at other hotels and could have got large rooms for a similar price. However we had an early meal and a show booked and couldn’t be late. We had booked the hotel for its location close to the arena. The reception staff Desire and Niamh were lovely. Niamh tried her best to help us. The ‘hotel manager ‘ was not present but was on the telephone , however refused to speak to me. The reservations manager was not contactable. It was left to the poor reception staff and also the hotel chef Christina to help us. Christina is a beautiful person , so kind and helpful . Niamh and Christina were left to help us. Other guests over heard our plight and were also joining in . We are a couple aged 64’s and 71 and expected to climb over each other to get out of bed. Christina and Niamh were amazing and deserve a promotion, they are a credit to the hotel. Your hotel manager and reservations manager deserve the sack.

We were given a single room for two adults - this was confirmed by staff and was down to the fault of the reservations manager , squeezing us in despite booking our room over a year ahead. The filling day a different staff member (not previously mentioned) , told us that the hotel is owned by a business man who has given the hotel to his daughter to manage. She is not interested in the hotel or the business and is ‘running it into the ground’ the bed was pushed against a wall and scalding hot radiator . If it hadn’t been for the amazing Chef Christina and reception lady Niamh, my husband’s birthday treat would have been ruined. They were brilliant under the circumstances.

Very convenient location

Room 6 could do with a blind, bright light shine in the window all night and due to the shape of the room the curtains are not able to be fully closed.

Location was amazing Our room was shabby The curtain pole fell down with the curtains In fairness when they knew they gave us 50 per cent off but had we been staying 2 nights , I would have left or asked to move

No mention of breakfast

Got what I expected which was perfect for a short staff and large 3 man room for my 3 grown up children.

Central location in Nottingham, all the usual tea and coffee and mini bar facilities

Tired, not a 4* hotel, most uncomfortable bed I've stayed in away from home, bathroom door handle loose, old dirty cracked windows
