"Adequate for one night"

6.0

friendly staff, comfortable bed

Room and bathroom was quite small, furnishings quite basic. my friend spilt some tonic water on the carpet and when she wiped it up the cloth was filthy so the carpets could definitely do with a deep clean

I liked the helpfulness of staff. The hotel is clearly being used to host asylum seekers and homeless families - I have no objection but the breakfast area was consequently crowded and there were lots of children running around. It was a bit cramped and overwhelming. There was also a baby crying during the night. This is not a political point as I am not judging anyone's circumstances but I paid for a peaceful stopover and I don't think the accommodation is appropriate fir serving so many purposes.

Arrived to an abanonded reception desk. Then loads of kids were running around and screaming unsupervised. Finaly a staff member arrived and was more happy to try and sell bar items from a empty fridge than do anything else. Room was battered with filler on walls broken bath floor tiles a plug hanging off wall and lamp hanging off wall. Clearly a lack of maintenance as then the toilet flush was broken and the sink plug was not even attached. Went for breakfast next morning and choice was Very poor as no muffins no pastries and just plain yoghurt with no fruit puree. No mushrooms and watered down fruit squash. Never had anything this bad as holiday inn breakfast normaly has everything out and lota. I guess staff didnt put these items out or didnt have anything to give people or someone has got up at 6am and took everything but i doubt it

"Truly awful experience, never again!"

2.0

My husband I stayed at this hotel to attend a charity ball at a venue nearby. Upon arrival we were met with people wandering aimlessly and loitering in pyjamas and hooded tracksuits around the reception and breakfast area. It appeared that the hotel was being used to house migrants from third world countries. At no time during my telephone booking was I warned of this and it was not referred to on their website. Breakfast was an intimidating and frankly horrible experience. The breakfast room was full of presumably migrants, with their uncontrolled children running around and shouting, and hostile eyes everywhere. We were made to feel out of place, conspicuous and unwelcome. Breakfast itself was rudimentary to say the least; cold plates, cold food, no milk in the coffee machine, watered down orange juice etc. and the hygiene was highlyquestionable because the bread for toast was in a bag that everyone had to reach into with their hands, so we avoided this. I have a compromised immune system so had I known that I would be placed in close proximity with potentially unvaccinated and probably undocumented individuals I would never had made this booking. We saw other paying guests taking their breakfasts back to their rooms to avoid having to sit in the breakfast area. We paid over £115 for the night, which is totally disgraceful for the situation we found ourselves in. IHG need to seriously rethink their policy because exposing paying guests to this kind of environment is completely unacceptable and, until they change this, we will not spend another penny with them and would suggest others seriously consider this before making a booking at any of their hotels. My opinion is that it is pure greed to take in these people alongside paying guests to the detriment of the paying guests.
