Good food, but not great service. We had set 3 course early dinner, food lovely, tasty & plentiful, well presented, but front of house not attentive, slow, hotel absolutely rammed, then they forgot our desserts & made a hurried excuse. Angel Hotel, you need to up your game, not rest on your laurels of your reputation. Lots of other wonderful restaurants in the town will over take you if you're not careful.

"A little dissapointed"

5.0

The location was excellent and staff very friendly and helpful.

There was no lift and that made it difficult for one of our party to climb the stairs. Given the price of the room we were expecting better.

"Nice location and staff. Poor value for money comsidering how dated the classic room was."

3.0

Good location and lovely staff.

Dated room. Expensive. Chipped bathroom sink and uses a shower curtain not glass screen. Ground floor corridor smelt bad.

"Dirty bathrooms and pigeon crapped windows."

4.0

We stayed for one Saturday night in May. We were going to a wedding and it was a very hot day. We opened a window to try and let some air into the room. The base of the window was caked in pigeon crap and looked and smelt awful. It wasn’t until we shut the window that we realised both windows were the same. The hotel could have cleaned them or even put pigeon deterrent in front of them instead of the empty window boxes that attracted pigeons. On the Sunday morning I noticed the shower. At first I thought the basin was just cracked, but when I started pushing g my toe along the cracks I realised it was filthy. Swarth maybe? Then I looked more carefully at the walled tiles and saw there was dried blood from a previous guest. I got out immediately. Needless to say my wife and I didn’t use the shower. The bath wasn’t much cleaner. I reported both of these things to reception on checkout and asked to speak to the duty manager who wasn’t available. I was told someone would be in touch with me immediately to apologise and sort out a compensation. As yet, 10 days later, still waiting for a call. Nothing. Do they actually care. The state of the bathroom would suggest not.

"Sadly not the Angel we were used to"

6.0

I booked here for a surprise for my Husband’s Birthday having previously stayed here for our Wedding Anniversary and had such a lovely time. There are some positives and some negatives which left us with conflicting feelings about our experience this time. The Pluses first, fabulous bar and cocktails, amazing food and service at Dinner. The thoughtful addition of Dog Bowls and toys in the room was a lovely touch. The Champagne and Strawberries ordered were on the room on check in. The Porter was a lovely man who worked tirelessly under a lot of pressure as two weddings on and numerous cars to park and luggage to unload and deliver to the rooms. The Negatives, Our Room was very sadly dated Room 212, badly in need of a complete makeover, tired decorations with multiple scuffs and damaged furniture. Cleaning left a lot to be desired with lots of dust/Flies/debris around the window/Radiator areas. Windows filthy on the outside from all the bird poo. The Bathroom however was spotlessly clean and a complete contrast by comparison. It was a dog friendly room as was the previous room we stayed in. Even more importance should be focused on the cleaning. The Breakfast experience the next morning was SO bad!!! We were shown to our table quickly followed in by an elderly couple, orders taken, first choices arrived with coffee for both of us couples then nothing….noticed lots of tables being served with their cooked orders all arrived after us and seemingly both of our tables had been forgotten about! Eventually I got up and brought the matter to their attention, finally after a full half hours wait our Breakfasts turned up, I can honestly say in all the years I have had Breakfasts in Hotels this was without doubt the very worst. Bacon so overcooked could not cut it, tomato still cold with no taste, black pudding same as bacon, sausage inferior quality with no taste etc etc only the egg was fresh and well cooked. The second couple finally got theirs which was scrambled eggs on toast for both with no seasoning at all.
