Angel Hotel

The food in the restaurant was very good and the staff, extremely attentive. It was frequented by the well heeled of Bury St. Edmunds and if you like that quieter feel to your dining experience - you will like it here

We truly enjoyed our stay at The Angel Hotel. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and attentive throughout, and the overall ambiance of the hotel was lovely. The decor in the dining areas and bar was stylish and inviting, making every mealtime a pleasure.

However, while the shared spaces felt modern and well-maintained, the bedrooms could use some updating. At the room rate, we expected small luxuries like robes, slippers, and higher-end toiletries. The showerhead also could have been cleaner, which detracted slightly from the overall experience. With a few improvements to the rooms, this could easily become a top-tier destination. The heart and hospitality are there—just a little polish needed behind the doors.

Attempted to go to the bar for a drink last night and was told we'd be served shortly. We waited for over 15 mins and having tried to catch the attention of several staff, it seemed we were invisible. It's very rare for me to write a negative review like this, but I was actually left angry so felt compelled to do so. Disappointing - it wasn't even half full by the time we got there after dinner either!

We came and stayed two nights at this hotel for a Wedding. I asked if we could possibly be moved to a larger room. We were told it was possible if we paid £60 a night extra. I agreed. We moved all of our belongings through the rabbit warren of hallways and stairs only to find The new ‘luxury’ room didn’t have any air-conditioning. we were not told this prior to being moved. We decided not to move everything back all over again. That was a mistake. It was exceptionally hot and we hardly slept -despite the fan. The noise from pub goers outside the hotel was also disturbing. the restaurant food was disappointing. There are so many fantastic restaurants in Bury. I wished we had gone elsewhere. We waited over an hour to get our meals. Our server was sadly unpleasant but it may be due to stressful restaurant. The best thing about this hotel is a gentleman called Steve. He was exceptional in his attitude and kindness. The hotel is extremely lucky to have a professional, kind and helpful member of staff. We had friends who stayed at another establishment nearby who enjoyed a first class experience. Sadly, we cannot say the same for The Angel.

Had lunch here it was wonderful, lovely food, great staff I absolutely loved it: infact I have already booked to stay later in the year!

Regular visitors to Bury but first actual stay in the Angel (although have had many a drink in here previously!) Beautifully decorated throughout with welcoming staff plus lovely bedroom with a comfy bed. Breakfast was very good although service could have been slicker (believe they were down on staff). Final bill was incorrect but quickly resolved. Will absolutely stay again.

Location was right in the centre opposite the cathedral . They were fully booked for the evening meal but still accommodated us in the bar area which is lovely . Rooms were beautiful clean and tastefully decorated . The parking service was exceptional . The ground floor room as requested was perfect .

Fabulous location and smart common areas. Dog friendly with parking available. Good restaurants on site.

Room was a bit tired but comfortable. Reception was efficient - but not particularly warm in style.
