Hotel Indigo - Birmingham Five Points S - UAB by IHG

I paid for valet service, and upon checkout the valet was late to work so I had to find my key and my vehicle. They did not check my information before giving me my key. This led me to feel that my vehicle was not safe with the valet service. I paid for a single king size bed because my husband was going to meet me at the hotel and stay with me. When I went to my room I noticed that it was a double queen size room. I went back to the front desk and explained that I had requested a single king size room and that my husband had planned to meet me there. I was told that there were no other rooms available and I went to my room. My friend who checked in with me with her boyfriend was given a king size single room. She told the front desk that her room was hot, so they moved her to another king size single room. They did have rooms available to accommodate my needs, but chose not to give me the room. When I requested a receipt from my stay, the staff was very unprofessional in their email correspondence. There was no punctuation, capitalization, and they used the letter "u" in place of the word "you." When I asked for a manager's name to make contact, I was told they could not give me that information and asked why I wanted to speak with him. I will not stay at this hotel again for these reasons.

Rooms were very nice. But the rooms were really hot. We tried to adjust the temperature in the room to cool it off, but the air would not come on. There was another room in our party, and the occupants of that room had the same issue. Also, the person at the registration desk during the day was very rude. Sat looking at her phone and seemed very agitated to have to check us in. The person at the desk when we got back to room late at night was very nice.

We came just for an overnight. While we were grateful for a place to rest and to have our pups, the building could use a facelift and a good scrubbing. Parking was nearby which was good.

Terrible hotel! We stayed one night on a road trip here because we wanted to be in downtown Birmingham and the online photos of the rooms looked nice. However, we had a very disappointing stay. The lobby & check process was unprofessional & a little odd. You have to valet & that is $40 a night. The valet seemed a little off, too. The rooms are worn and the floors were extremely dirty. The bathroom floor was filthy. The AC / heat but did not work at all. The hotel was very noisy - water pipes making noise, loud music playing at 4:00 am, traffic & street noise through the flimsy windows. We were going to stay a 2nd night on our way back & tried to cancel, but were told we would not get a refund because we didn't cancel FOUR DAYS in advance. This is absurd.

Reported a toilet issue at 6:00 AM. Went to appointment. Came back at 10:30 AM and still was not fixed. Maintenance staff was in empty room down the hall repairing a soap dispenser. Had to go down eight floors to lobby to use toilet. I think a toilet in an occupied room should take precedence over a soap dispenser in an unoccupied room. Corporate gave me some "points" to make up for it, but couldn't tell me what the points were worth, not even for that hotel. I go to Birmingham often, will not stay there again.

Although the hotel itself was a disappointment, there were employees who were the highpoint of our stay. The valet service was excellent. Marci went above and beyond to assist us with luggage and making sure we were in and out of the car safely on a busy street and in the blowing rain. She recognized that we had some specific challenges and was kind and compassionate. In the restaurant, Delores was patient and attentive with us and provided excellent service. I was excited to stay at a Hotel Indigo because my previous experiences at this brand was excellent. This property has great potential but needs some repair and maintenance.

This place does not look like it's advertised at all except for the lobby and bar. The bathroom was FILTHY. The floors were sticky and slippery! There was hair all over the shower wall and on the floor of the shower. No fridge?????? The elevator is like a scene from American horror story. The bed was incredibly uncomfortable i hardly slept. They put me right hy the elevator you could hear everyone come off and go on it. When i checked in i sat there for a good 5 minutes waiting for someone to appear. The vallet lady sweet as pie best customer service youll find give her a raise and promotion! The girl working night shift royallllll b! I went outside to smoke around 11. My key card wouldn't light up the green light to get in. I had to get her to open the door. When she opened the door and let my son in she said the key in your hand is to open the door. I said oh i'm sorry it wasn't working. She threw her hands in the air rolled her eyes and walked away. Good thing my son was there because she needs a lesson in customer service skills and honestly that job isn't for someone like her with such a negative attitude! Who rolls their eyes and is rude to a paying customer for having to get up and walk 5 feet to a door and open it? If you're a crackhead or a dopehead you'll think this place is a 5 star hotel. This is nothing but an overpriced motel!

I loved this hotel nice clean room friendly staff, and the breakfast was amazing. And the breakfast to the room when booking you will not be disappointed

Location was great

Traffic noise, beds uncomfortable, walls too thin, smelled weed in my room from people next door smoking it

There was a hold in the floor of the room we were in but after traveling all day we did not feel like moving to another room but did inform front desk which was nice. Our 1 year old is still crawling and her feet, knees and palms were pure black after crawling around on the floor. The beds were very uncomfortable and creaky. We try a new hotel everytime we come to Birmingham but we will not be giving this one another go. In good news the service was good. The lady at valet was very sweet.
