Grand Decameron Montego Beach, A Trademark All-Inclusive Resort

Review for Royal Decameron Bay – ⭐☆☆☆☆ (1/5) I stayed at this hotel for two nights and was very disappointed with the experience. First, check-in was extremely slow — I didn’t receive my room until minutes to 6:00 PM, which was frustrating after a long day of travel. When I finally got the room, I was shocked at the condition: the bathtub was stained black, the floor had visible grime, and the pillowcases were dirty. I had to request a room change immediately. The second room was better but still not up to basic standards. Then, to make things worse, on Sunday morning before check-out, I discovered water dripping from the ceiling while I was using the bathroom. It was coming from the upstairs room — completely unacceptable and unsanitary. Overall, this was a very unpleasant stay. For the price and reputation, I expected much better. I do not recommend staying here and personally give this place a zero rating if that were possible.

Friendly workers needs to be renovated rooms and bathrooms. New towels needed and wash clothes, more food and drink options also.

Check in started the stay off a bit rocky but most of the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was amazing!! The rooms are not the best but the views made up for it. I would stay again. Shout out to the front desk supervisor who made things a little more accommodating. I did not get her name but she is a gem! Thank you!!!

Location was great

The rooms were nasty. The towels were nasty. We did not even get face towels. Did not even have hot water. Did not have facial tissues. Did not have an iron. Did not have an ironing board. And the tub was disgusting.

The location and views were amazing. The cleanliness of the rooms were subpar the resort never had any towels which made it hard to be up and ready for excursions on time. The hotel is very old and could use a lot of updating.

Quick hits: 9/10 for the ocean views. 10/10 for location. 6/10 for food. 9/10 for nightly entertainment. 2/10 for everything else. Pros: the ocean view room was incredible to behold. - The beach was super close with plenty of cabanas, & chairs and Cornwall beach was a short walk away. -The pools were nice and close to the bars to access drinks. - They have an attentive photographer on the premises and he sells the digital images for around $14/each. - The bar was plentiful and they had a self serve tea area that was mostly well stocked. - There are countless places to take pictures and document your time outside. - There was entertainment every night as well. - We could sense the intent of most of the staff to ensure we were entertained and having fun. Sometimes it was over the top like they had water aerobics at the beach, but we recognize that our vacation personality leans more towards leisure vs activities so it didn’t bother us as much since they were over fairly quickly. - There are several vendors on the grounds selling their wares making souvenir buying easy. I’m afraid most of them had the same things so it was obvious most of it was bought in bulk & not unique. - There is a supermarket across the street where you can get emergency supplies like meds and snacks. Cons: From the time we pulled up to the security gate we felt a hostile energy from the employees. We live in a tourist-y area so we extended grace as we understand how it can be. Still, the guard gave us a hard time and then when we were checking in the woman also gave us a hard time. - We checked in fairly quickly but our room initially had a very small television. It worked but it was a size that made mounting it seem silly. They snuck and swapped out the tv without notice or warning and the new tv didn’t allow us to use streaming. - We never received any washcloths despite asking everyday and being told they would be provided. - It was not clear where to get beach towels from and it took asking several people to get an answer. You get the beach towels from the gym and you have to sign for them. - The food is served buffet style, but they frequently ran out of bowls and plates. Finding someone to replenish it was a battle we fought almost every meal. - The food was a nice variety with an obvious effort to have a variety which is ok unless you expected to eat lots of Jamaican food. For example, we only had salt fish once. They usually had a produce bar, soups, a roasting station with roast beef or pork and a healthy option section which was mostly steamed veggies. - If you have stayed at a hotel that is right on the beach before then you’re probably aware of how most of them are dated and in need of upgrades. This resort is no different. It is clear they rest on the beauty of the grounds, the proximity to the airport and ease of access to the beach. - There were obvious leaks all over the common walking areas that caused buckets to be placed around to fill with water from the leaks. Very unsightly. - The water pressure from the shower felt like a trickle which is tricky when you’re trying to rinse off sand. - Our room always smelled “moist” and not like “Oh we’re right on the beach” most but “oh there’s a leak somewhere” moist. Overall we picked this location due to the proximity to the airport (a shuttle 1 way was still $20 US) and because it was all inclusive and right on the beach. I wouldn’t recommend this to a friend unless they had a really strict budget & didn’t mind leaks, rude staff and subpar food.

Awful experience, in my view my colleagues and I felt as if we were racial profiled buy most of the workers we encountered at the section of the hotel that didn't have elevators! The workers were rude to include the receptionist ( the one with the lisp). We weren't allowed to do the same thing as the white people. My colleague had to cover up her bikini while the white people had their breast swinging around doing shot-put, discus and going around like a Ferris wheel. Sometimes you are talking to a member of staff and they don't answer and ignore you to serve the white people instead. We will never go back there. The rooms were not properly cleaned and the sheets were soiled. Bathroom had mold we had to clean it when we got in. Food is horrible. Our experience was just terrible. The rooms were like an uncleaned, unkept motel with workers who lack training.
