Residence Inn Kansas City Independence

I can't say enough great things about my experience at the Residence Inn by Marriott in Independence, MO. The hotel itself was clean, comfortable, and welcoming, but what truly set this stay apart was the incredible service—especially from the General Manager, Cody. Cody went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. He was not only professional and attentive but also genuinely kind and helpful throughout my entire stay. It's rare to come across someone so dedicated to guest satisfaction, and Cody truly made me feel valued and taken care of. Thanks to his leadership and hospitality, this hotel stands out as a top choice. I will definitely be returning and recommending it to others. Thank you, Cody, and the entire team for such a wonderful experience!

Rooms are very clean

First to start off coming here at night was a big mistake, it’s extremely sketchy with people walking around the building, once me and my mom and sister got inside everything was better we checked in the front desk lady was nice an hour later I went downstairs to the gym to get a little pump in before bed everything was fine until the morning one of the supposedly housekeepers barely knocked on our door none us could hear it me and my sister was sleeping still and thankfully my mom heard the door open but still a really scary experience, as a housekeeper your supposed to knock a few times and yell housekeeping but those things did not happen, as far as the room goes it’s self it’s decent if your only staying one night bathroom was very dirty bathtub and toilet looked very disgusting as if it hasn’t been cleaned properly, and let’s not forget the bed we got a one bedroom room me and my sister slept on the pull out couch while my mom slept in the bed, in my mom’s exact words she said the bed was so uncomfortable it felt like a 600 pound life person was there before us because the bed sank so low, we hardly got any sleep during the night bc we were so paranoid and anxious, we skipped out on breakfast because we were still shaken up by everything we experienced so we left. And one last thing do research before coming here some people on Reddit has said there been times where people break into people’s car luckily our car wasn’t broken into, but I still advise you don’t stay at this hotel/motel.

The pool was closed, and they kept telling us it would be open in a few hours and giving different reasons, until the last day where the manager said it was working just fine the whole time. I had to ask multiple times for our towels to be switched out and they did not give us clean towels even though I asked them and at the front desk multiple times, they also did not take our trash out. Trash was in the halls outside of rooms. Breakfast was room temperature on the first day, except for the sausage gravy. I was not willing to risk checking on days two and three.

Worst hotel I’ve stayed at. It does not live up to Marriott standards. Read all the reviews before booking. The rooms are in need of a serious deep clean. Couch cushions had crusty white stains and instead of cleaning, just flipped them. No extra towels or blankets ever seemed to be available, nor was the staff. No bell to alert anyone if you’re waiting at front desk…you just wait..and wait. Your socks will inevitably turn black on the bottoms. This has nothing to do with the construction but rather overall lack of cleanliness in the hotel.

Not as advertised. Only became a Marriott 43 days ago! Pool broken. Bed lumpy and rolls to the center. Dishes not clean. Bathtub did not drain, told front desk- they sent maintenance, maintenance resolved the tub only to have disgusting residue left in my tub that I had to clean! Gross. Had two rooms for Friday & Saturday night for Father’s Day weekend to catch the royals game with family. In the second room had to call cleaning service back in because when I tried to make up the pull out couch for the kids hair, food, wrappers, etc was all in the cushions. Prescription medicine and hygiene products were left in the bathroom drawers. Breakfast was awful. First day was microwaved biscuits and french toast sticks & sausage, eggs, and oatmeal. We got to breakfast at 8am and all was out had to ask for biscuits and eggs were not refilled while we were there (25-35 minutes) They did have nuts and chocolate chips, brown sugar for the oatmeal, bagel halves, muffins, English muffin halves. No cream cheese, no peanut butter. Only butter, syrup jelly. Apple juice that tasted funny. Orange juice that tasted funny, expired chocolate milk from 6/11. Coffee was warm, not hot. I asked for fresh fruit like a banana and she said they “usually have fruit cups, but they were out”. I asked for water and she said I had to get it from the front desk and the “usually just give it to you” DO NOT STAY HERE! The pool did not break last week. Day two breakfast was worse/we left!

I just recently stayed at this hotel & was not aware that they were under construction until I checked in. Usually I would not have an issue with this, as I have stayed several times at hotels that were under construction; however, they should of posted it on their web site notifying guests prior to check in. After checking in and getting our room key, we pulled into the back of the building to get to our room. The outdoor entrance, which usually you have to use your room key to get in, was not working and anyone could have walked into the hotel with out key access. Did not feel safe at all with this door not locking especial at night. Once we walked in, the area had a very strong smell of someone smoking or had smoked something. Once we reached our floor, walking down the hall to our room, there was trash on the floor and doors to other room that had paint peeling off. Starting off, this was not a great impression for this hotel at all. Once we reach our room, the main door had gaps not only on the top of the door but also on the bottom half which you would see light coming in. Walking into the room, the hardwood floor has white specs all over it which look like it came from the (popcorn) ceiling and that the floor was not cleaned. There was a coffee marker but not coffee pot, dirty silver ware and sliver ware for 1 person which we had 3 and the room can occupy 4. Not sure if housekeeping checks on those little things but if not they should. We had a 1 bedroom suite which the bedroom door would not close all the way unless you pushed really hard and slammed it shut. The vents in the room on the bottom wall were halfway off and could not get the screw to screw back in so when the air condition came on, you could see dirt particles come out. One of my family members has health issues, so this was not a good sign seeing this. The bathroom door would only close 1/2 halfway and if you tried to close it all the way, I was afraid it would break. The bottom of the door was rotted and when done using the toilet, it would move. The tv in the bedroom was not working so I alerted the front desk in person and also mentioned all the issues we were having. I explained my situation regarding the room and the concern about the vent blowing dirt to the front desk clerk and the impression I got was it was not their issue, and that hotel is under construction and I have to deal with it. Even though the Front Desk clerk did not say those words, that was the impression I received. The Front Desk clerk did say they would get a hold of maintenance to have them look at the tv for us. I also asked for extra towels since there was 3 in are party, the Front Desk clerk said that he was doing the laundry and would bring some up when he was finished. We left for the evening for about 5 hours and when we got back, the tv still would not work and no extra towels even though I asked for them and was told they would bring some up. I had to go down to the front desk 10pm and spoke to the evening clerk stating maintenance did not fix the tv and the reason why we did not get extra towels was because the dryer broke and they had to fix it. I asked if maintenance could look at it the next day and she said she would put a ticket in again. When leaving the follow day, I double checked with the day staff at the front desk to make sure that maintenance was aware that the tv was still not working, they said they would get to it. We left for day and was gone for at least 9 hours which should of been plenty of time to look at the tv and guess what, when we got back the tv still was not fixed. Went to the front desk for the 3rd time and the gentlemen working showed me 2 tickets that were open but could not tell if maintenance even worked on it. I advised me no, because the tv still is not working. We did have a tv in the living room; however, you could not get the volume past 7. The pool was also not opened and was not advised of that either. We had fun on our trip except this was the WORST experience I have ever had staying at a hotel.

Liked the location. Staff was engaging and present at front desk. disappointed in the cleaning staff-found food particles on sofa behind pillow, 2 of 3 bottles low or empty in bathroom-even after "thorough cleaning" mid week, same breakfast all week, put out too much food product all at once that sat for too long and became overly dry, milk not chilled properly

Bad experience- staff, room and food did not meet expectations.
