Hilton Edinburgh Carlton

Hotel war mit einem Gerüst verbaut. Im Zimmer hingen die Gardinen herunter. Erst funktionierte nur ein Aufzug und später sind wir im anderen steckengeblieben. Leider sind wir nicht über Baumaßnahmen informiert worden.

Staff very friendly and helpful room was nice but a bit dated.

The scaffolding out side our room and men starting work on it at 0730 in the morning on it we'll I say staring work more chatting loadly about how their day was going to go. Some damage to the wall inside the room which really should be repaired. This was not a biggy for us but I can see some people complaining in that situation. All in all a great night though

The breakfast was excellent

When we checked in, the receptionist advised that we did not have breakfast booked, and would need to pay extra. Luckily I had printed off the booking and pointed out that it included breakfast. There was no apology for her mistake. She then proceeded to ask me for a £40 payment and advised it could be used at the bar, and any remaining amount would be reimbursed on check out. I wasn't happy about this but paid it. I attended the bar and thought I would use part of the deposit. The bar person gave me a receipt before pouring drinks and I noticed a service charge was added. I asked about it and was told she could remove it. I had it removed and paid for the drinks by cash instead. On checking out another receptionist advised she would reimburse £20. I asked her to think again. She checked the booking and stated that we had stayed for 2 nights rather than 1 night, and reimbursed the £40, again, without apology for her mistake. I believe that many people who stay at the hotel won't be as aware as I was, and may be conned by the hotel staff.

The location was excellent

The beds were very, very extremely uncomfortable and a girl at check-in named Ewa. AWA didn’t even read our reservations properly. We had already paid for it and yet she charged my husband‘s credit card. Another 800 and some odd UK Sterling Pound, which we won’t see on our credit card for 10 more days so you know when you’re on holiday that makes a huge difference so maybe having staff a little bit more alert and listening to the customer and not trying to overtake him, plus she didn’t even know where the hotel was on the parking garage sheet she couldn’t pinpoint it out so she needs a lot more training if she needs to be on her own in the front desk
