I was appalled to have been directed to a third party booking company based in the USA when I tried to book online using the hotel website. When I realised I had been charged, what I believe to be, a highly inflated fee I contacted the hotel by telephone. All the staff I spoke with were totally unhelpful refusing to discuss my grievance to my satisfaction. They claimed no knowledge of a company with which they are clearly affiliated as my booking transferred to their system. They also claimed they were unable to amend or cancel the booking without a full forfeiture of the money I had paid. My advice would be to avoid this hotel at all costs because there is a risk of being overcharged with no obvious recourse.

The room was large and very comfortable, as was the bed. The en suite shower was very good. The layout and location of the hotel are excellent. The village area is a lovely place to wander and sit and enjoy either coffee or a drink.

Breakfast on the first morning of our stay was not as good as that on the second morning. The food had obviously been lying out being kept hot for some time. We should have asked for a ground floor room as the stairs up to our bedroom were very steep
