The Manor Elstree

One of the reception staff was exceptionally helpful and went the extra mile. She seemed to be a senior or shift leader. She was there when we checked in.

Location is good

Curtains don’t block out the light and therefore sun came through at about 3:30am. Also rubbish truck came to collect rubbish at 4:30am

It was near to where we were attending a wedding. Staff were lovely and helpful, carrying our luggage upstairs for us.

No air conditioning on a very hot night. On a usual night this wouldn’t be an issue but it was a heatwave.

Quiet almost rural location in affluent area. Impressive manor house with original feature and nice grounds.

Some fixtures, fittings and decor in bed of refurbishment.

Breakfast

Due to an event the restaurant wasn't open for residents of the hotel. Very disappointing

I like the location and the easy access to the train station. It also had some grounds that could be explored for a leisurely walk.

The headboard in my room was either stained or had simply seen better days. However, the staff were very hospitable and were willing to upgrade our room immediately.

It was a beautiful hotel!

It seems they are consistently short-staffed. I stayed for two nights, and almost every time I walked past the reception desk, there was no one around. It’s disappointing because, for the price paid, you would expect a higher level of service and customer satisfaction. Unfortunately, the overall experience did not match the value offered. I usually stay at Grim’s Dyke Hotel, which is only about 15 minutes away. It is a beautiful property with extensive grounds and consistently excellent customer service. Unfortunately, they were fully booked, so I decided to try this hotel and explore somewhere new. Having experienced both, I must say that Grim’s Dyke ticks all the boxes, especially when it comes to quality and service. Sadly, this hotel fell short of those expectations.
