"Just what I needed"

10.0

I went for a short break from my family and it was perfect. The staff were friendly, helpful and hospitable. My room was beautiful with stunning views and all the amenities within were of the highest standard. I ate in the restaurant which was very good with friendly staff and ample delicious portions and excellent wine. I also ate at the bar which again served excellent food.

"Mixed bag but a lovely hotel"

8.0

Booked as a 60th birthday surprise for my mum for an overnight stay with spa treatments, afternoon tea & dinner. Mostly was great but a few things could be improved. One of them was check-in at reception. Upon arrival it felt almost that we were unexpected and it was a bit disorganised. We had to almost ask all the questions rather than being told if we could check-in and told basic information (as you usually are told at other hotels). It may of been when we arrived but I felt it could have been more organised/prompt. We arrived early and our room was ready (at 1pm) so that was a bonus. Cannot fault the room, we had a twin room on the first floor. The only thing I would note is that it's quite loud at night with people walking past (unfortunately cannot be helped) but just to mention if you're a light sleeper and only niggle was the pillows were extremely soft, but that's more of a personal preference (as I prefer a firm pillow). Lovely touch with the complimentary items in the room (selection of beverages in the fridge and chocolates/crisps). I had booked a package which included afternoon tea, I assumed this would be in the hotel but it was in the spa restaurant (which I was unaware of before I arrived). We headed to the spa building which is just a short walk away from the main hotel and the staff in there were amazing, from reception to all the waiting staff. The afternoon tea was lovely, including a selection of sandwiches/porkpies/scones/cakes/mousses. The service in there was excellent and we were both impressed with the selection. An added perk was getting a few cappuccinos/flat whites included (which we expected to pay for, seeing as we had ordered tea but was surprised it was included). Highly recommend booking the afternoon tea. We then had booked for a combination massage (55 minute back, neck, shoulders & express facial) which was incredible and would highly recommend. Both our masseuses, Becky & Danielle took extra care of us and wanted to give a shout out to them both for making us feel so special and was one of the highlights of our stay. After our massages we relaxed in the pool/sauna/jacuzzi/steam room and was great experience. Unfortunately felt the service for dinner let it down for us with the bar/dinner staff. When we arrived at the bar to get seated for dinner we were told to wait and was quite dismissive (it seemed they may have been under staffed, as the bartender making drinks was also sitting people down for dinner). Another couple came in 10 minutes after us and were served and seated straight away by the same waiter who told us to wait, which was a bit annoying. After waiting a while longer, I had to ask for an update and it seemed the waiter almost had no care/unapologetic that we were still waiting to sit down for dinner. It was a disappointing start as I wanted it to be special as this was booked for my mums 60th and especially being a great restaurant, the service should match. Once we eventually were taken to our table 20 minutes later, we were handed the menus and left. I had booked a package which included a £45 allocation per head for dinner, but nothing was explained by the staff on what you could use that on (e.g. can be used for the set menu or can it be used towards the main menu etc) but you were left to work it out for yourself. We did ask the waiter for the main menu (as he only gave us a set menu) but again that was forgotten about. By the time anyone came over to serve us to even take a drink order that was another 20 minutes so I was quite frustrated with the service. We did also ask for a soft drink/cocktail menu but felt the waiter was quite rude and cut us off before we had even finished asking for it. However, once we actually got the food it was fantastic and I can't fault the food but the service unfortunately let it down massively. I can understand if the restaurant was busy, but it wasn't and I think it really makes all the difference having that extra touch of great service and checking in how your meal was etc which was lacking in our experience and was disappointed with that (especially because it was a surprise). Breakfast was a pleasant surprise, the staff were a lot more friendly/attentive (and were different from the dinner staff) and the service was excellent. Not to mention the breakfast itself, a great menu and was hard to choose from. Overall was a lovely stay with some niggly issues that hopefully was just in our experience as I would like to return in future.

"Great customer service - even to non customers !"

10.0

I was not a guest at the hotel. A parcel for me was wrongly delivered to the hotel. I e-mailed the hotel and then rang when I could get a chance. Reception were brilliant. Polite, professional and helpful. They immediately confirmed receipt of my e-mail, and assured me they would do what they could to locate the parcel and let me know if and when it was found. Within 24 hours, a very nice lady named Amanda did indeed contact me to let me know the parcel had been found and they would keep it safe for me to collect at a time of my convenience - which I did do. I feel this is still a great example of customer service- even though as I said - I was not staying at the hotel as such and really just a complete stranger. They did not have to go to these lengths but I am grateful and appreciate that they did because the parcel was of great importance to me and I was concerned it would be lost. I am greatly relieved now. would like to return to the hotel one day, but next time hopefully as a guest or at least for an afternoon tea ! Thank you so much again to all at Nutfield Priory . What a high standard. 5 easy stars.

"Fabulous!"

10.0

As a first time visitor last Friday, I have to say that I was very impressed with the beauty and grandeur of the hotel. Most importantly was the warm welcome we received by the friendly receptionist on arrival. We had our dinner table booked for 8:15pm but had been delayed from picking up my friend at Heathrow Airport. When I rang through however, the kind lady at the desk assured me that my booking would still be honoured & wished me a safe journey. Arriving very late at the table we were still received very well by the professional & attentive assistant restaurant manger from Portugal! so a big thank you to him & Oscar who served us amazing coffee infused negronis which managed to impress my Sicilian friend who happens to be a highly trained mixologist!! The food was also tasty and well presented! Big thanks to the kitchen whom were happy to cook for us even though we were late. Breakfast was also good the next morning & it was also nice to see happy Franky and very attentive Caroline who served us and satisfied our endless coffee needs!! Last but not least I would also like mention that we enjoyed the spa facilities which were exceptional!! So definitely would like to come back 👌🏾💫

"40th birthday celebrations"

8.0

We stayed her for one night after booking one of the spa breaks. The spa itself was nice if in need of a little refresh. It did get a little busy on a Sunday afternoon but wasn’t too bad. We each enjoyed a massage and lunch as part of the package and enjoyed the relaxation room after. Our room was spacious and had a nice view out across the countryside. We had dinner in The Cloisters, the food was delicious and the staff great. Breakfast the next morning was equally good. We also booked a private room for lunch for more family to celebrate a 40th birthday. Amanda helped plan the event and Holly, our waitress was lovely and helpful. Thank you to Amanda, Peter, Holly and Caroline to name but a few of the excellent staff for making a special occasion, great.

We came for dinner at The Cloisters Restaurant, amazing as always and the best service from Alek and in particular Alex who went out of his way to make us feel welcome from the moment we sat down until we left. We’re looking forward to staying again soon

"An honest review"

8.0

We had a spa day and stayed the night. Positives: The building of the hotel is absolutely beautiful. The room was spacious and clean. A huge variety of tea and coffee in the room. On arrival, the reception team were friendly and called over to the spa to let us know our room was ready early. Staff in the spa were lovely. Made us feel welcome instantly. We were given robes and flip flops. Massage by Tanya was brilliant and I felt relaxed afterwards. Afternoon tea in the spa was pleasant. Breakfast was delicious- lots of choice and friendly atmosphere. The dining space is stunning and the positioning of the tables by the window was a nice touch. It was lovely to look at the view. Extensive wine list in the restaurant. Things that would make it 5* - Our room was absolutely freezing even with the air con on the highest heat setting. - Dinner in the Cloisters Restaurant was very hit and miss. I ordered a medium rare steak. It came out very well done (I couldn’t cut it) I politely had to send it back and the second one arrived. It tasted like charcoal and not much else and the chips were raw. By the time my meal had arrived back, my husband had finished and I had to eat by myself. I felt as though we were treated differently because we had a spa package- almost like we didn’t matter in comparison to other outside guests. We were given a set menu but the small print said ‘£45 each towards your meal’ once I asked for the a la cart menu (which we had seen online), we received a more attentive service. The dinner let the experience down. Overall an enjoyable day/night stay.
