"Disappointing Anniversary Stay"

2.0

Posting our review to provide feedback regarding our recent stay at the Post Hotel from February 18–19, which was intended to celebrate our 37th wedding anniversary. We would like to begin by thanking Jill at the front desk for accommodating our date change due to the winter storm in Calgary. She graciously offered us an upgrade to the Fairview Cabin (Room 102), which we accepted and appreciated. Unfortunately, our experience in the cabin was extremely disappointing. Upon arrival, the cabin was uncomfortably cold, with slate floors and no area rugs. Despite the thoughtful gesture of champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries, we were unable to relax and remained in our parkas. A significant draft through the front door persisted throughout our stay, despite our request for weather stripping to be addressed. Heating instructions were not provided, and the cabin had not been pre-warmed prior to our arrival. Additional space heaters were added, but even with these measures, the cabin remained difficult to heat adequately. Furthermore, the electrical system was insufficient to support basic use: running the heaters, television, and coffee maker simultaneously repeatedly tripped the breaker, resulting in a service call to restore the television. On the morning of February 19, there was no hot water in the cabin, nor at the spa, which prevented us from showering. This was particularly concerning given the hotel’s reputation and price point. The pool was also notably cold and not enjoyable. Housekeeping service was inconsistent and incomplete. Despite coordinating times when the room could be cleaned, the cabin was not properly serviced. Floors remained dirty, glassware was not replaced, and turndown service was minimal. We would like to acknowledge two positive experiences. Ms. Roux provided excellent, knowledgeable wine service and was a pleasure to speak with, and Jayce at the Fondue Stübli delivered professional and attentive service during a very enjoyable dinner. These individuals reflect well on your team. However, attention to detail was lacking in other areas, including improperly sized teaspoons served with espresso in both restaurants and insufficient electrical capacity in the cabin, which prevented normal grooming activities. We checked out on February 20, relieved to conclude what was, unfortunately, a very poor stay. We strongly feel that this cabin is not suitable for winter occupancy and should not be offered during colder months without significant improvements to heating, insulation, and electrical systems. The Post Hotel has been the setting for many of our past celebrations, and it is deeply disappointing that this experience has overshadowed those memories.

"Wonderful Atmosphere, cozy winter lodge."

10.0

The Post had the feel of a wonderful old, historic mountain lodge. The atmosphere was perfect. It was cozy and we especially enjoyed watching Olympic coverage with fellow travelers, together in the lobby/lounge area while being able to get coffee and drinks from the pub.

"I miss the Post of old!"

Not the same Relais & Chateau experience we were accustomed to. Mix up in rooms and billing errors. Bed was not comfortable.

"Post Hotel no longer shines"

6.0

The location is the only thing that is saving this hotel. A disappointing experience from the arrival. No doorman, no luggage help. Room had trim hanging from ceiling. We had to have door lock repaired so we could get in. Overall service was a 3 star hotel. The dining room is still the highlight. Excellent food and service. The location is also great for skiing and exploring the area. Unfortunately, this traveler thinks it should not be included in the Relais Chateaux class and does not understand how it received a Michelin Key….

"Dining Experience Ruined the Stay"

2.0

Unfortunately, our recent stay fell well below expectations. While the property itself is unique, the dining experience significantly detracted from our visit and ultimately overshadowed everything else. Service was disorganized and inattentive, and the overall experience did not reflect the standard one would expect at this price point. Given how central dining is to the stay, this was a major disappointment and not something we would overlook or repeat.

"I'd never get tired of a day at the Post Hotel"

10.0

The day starts with a white tablecloth Austrian breakfast, then a 3-minute shuttle to the slopes, call from the hill to say you'll be down in 5, and the shuttle appears, whisks us back to the hot tub, fireplace in the room, and an elegant dinner with fine wine. Head on the pillow. Repeat.

"Excellent place to stay, albeit a bit pricey."

10.0

Charming rustic ski lodge experience, great food, and easy access to ski basin in a 4 star property. Love the working fireplaces in some rooms. Unfortunately you need to be sure to make reservations in the hotel dining room for weekends (prime nights) well in advance.
