"Lovely hotel, let down by restaurant staff"

Hotel is very nice, but let down by the quality of food and serving staff in the Walliser Stube restaurant. Prawn cocktail starter appeared to come straight from the fridge and was very cold and bland, likewise, dessert (Mountain Baked Louise) didn't live up to the glowing description in the menu, was bland and tasteless. Serving staff in the Walliser were bored and indifferent. However, breakfast restaurant staff were helpful and cheerful.

"Amazing!"

Wow! What an absolutely beautiful hotel in an amazing setting! We were expecting something special from the chateau and we certainly got special! I’m sure every staff member must have been on numerous customer service courses as everyone we asked would always go an extra mile to help eg as we were looking for somewhere to have a coffee while waiting for our room a super friendly lady of Indian origin asked if we were looking for something. She then went out of her way to take us up to the residents lounge , with free drinks and games and jigsaws, although maybe this should have been mentioned during the check in process….. We also received a gorgeous surprise with a lake view room upgrade to mark our 40th wedding anniversary and also a bottle of Prosecco in the room along with a delicious cream cake! The room was absolutely beautiful with a stunning view over the lake and the bed and pillows were sumptuous! Loads of great hikes into the hills from the doorstep and many guided walks if we’d had more time. The only downside to this fantastic hotel is the swimming pool. For a hotel with approximately 400-500 rooms I’m guessing, the pool is very small and one of the days we visited, was completely crowded children and floating toys. This did not detract in any way from our super special experience.

The view and we got an upgrade from Josh who was very friendly

The hairdryer was blocked and not hot and the bathroom was small. Nowhere to dry wet clothes.
