Residence Inn Kansas City Overland Park

With 1300 Marriott nights and another 800 in Hiltons, we know a thing or two about a great hotel — and especially great staffers. This RI has it all, including Clara at the front desk who came to our rescue when we landed unexpectedly in town with no hotel reservations. Clara swung into action over the phone and with an assist from GM Shawn we were treated like Bonvoy VIPs and within minutes were happily into a fabulous 2-Bedroom (Queens)/2-Bath Suite. Mind you, tornadoes were in the air all over the region so we were so very grateful to both of them. The hotel itself is everything a RI is known for — except totally perfect in every regard. The breakfast is lavish and fit for a king, with delicious hot scrambled eggs/biscuits/gravy and an array of bagels and breads, baskets of fresh apples, oranges and bananas. There are also individual 2% milk cartons, yogurts, hot sauce and all sorts of nuts and toppings. The fitness room has free weights, machines and towels. There’s a fully-operational business center and housekeepers all over the place ready and willing to cater to your every need for extra supplies. Windows open for a breeze and are screened. Parking surrounds the property and is well-lighted and safe. Sadly, we were crossing country and had to hit the road again after just one night. But this is where we will absolutely return on our next stop in Overland Park. Thanks again, Clara and Shawn — for making this the No. 1 Residence Inn you will ever find.

Not so good.

Our stay started out a bit rocky with our room being gone when we came in for vacation late at night. (10 PM) BUT, the staff was very helpful and helped us get it all taken care of and then some. We learned the problem was no one’s fault, but simply some miscommunication about some scheduled room maintenance that was not communicated with 3rd party booking sites. We ended up with an upgraded room and a discounted rate. The management was determined to make our stay pleasant and made our stay wonderful! We would definitely stay again. We loved having the comforts of home with the kitchen and utensils there for us to use.

Room was very nice. Room needed some maintenance.

Pool was closed and had been for months. N o hot tub. Family weekend was planned to swim and relax. We left and are asking for a refund. There was no mention in their ad the pool was closed.

Two rooms and little kitchen is perfect for what we needed and was ideal for us to be together and have our own spaces to be at the same time. It was pretty and well done.

The pool was broken and had been for some time according to the staff at the other hotel we visited to swim, it had been broken for some time and the receptionist at the other hotel was a little negative about the whole thing.

Quiet, clean. We did not have our kids with us, but they would have loved it. There is a courtyard with a basketball hoop and a mini golf hole.

Bring your own hair dryer. They have the little slow ones. Pool was out of service.

Pool is down and you do not get compensation on room rate for this matter. Cleanliness in room around bathrooms and kitchen can be better. TVs in rooms also didn’t work.

It was very clean and organized.

The pool was closed until further notice but we were not notified of this until we tried to go swimming.
