Sheffield Metropolitan Hotel by Belvilla

The room was a good size and the beds were comfortable. Breakfast was very good - you could choose a cooked breakfast for £10 or continental for £5. It was good to be able to leave luggage securely on the last day. The staff were all very helpful, professional and friendly apart from one young room cleaner who would not move aside for me to get in the lift. She seemed to be too busy talking on her mobile phone to worry about helping guests.

There was quite a lot of corridor noise throughout the night mainly due to inconsiderate guests talking loudly when leaving or returning to their rooms. The room doors were heavy and slammed shut which didn’t help with noise. Take ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. It was initially a bit difficult to find the hotel because it is the former Best Western and they haven’t changed the signage yet. The location isn’t in the best part of Sheffield but is only 10 minutes walk from the centre.

My room didn’t have a working shower or hot water- I had to move hotels because of this- it was dirty too- the windows had lots of marks and the king size bed was 2 singles pushed together- I am trying to get a refund but no body will communicate properly with me via email and when I call I get through to staff that can’t help.
