Clean well maintained

A wonderful stay. Beautiful hotel with very friendly and welcoming staff, helping us feel welcomed and relaxed. Our bags were taken to the room while we had an excellent Spa treatment followed by a delicious afternoon tea. The twin room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. Record player and coffee machine in the well appointed room. A highlight was the Pantry on the landing where you can get snacks and soft drinks. Will definitely return, such a great hotel and perfectly placed to visit the town 5 mins walk away.

A really beautiful guesthouse, helpful staff and a nice bar. Room was lovely and very clean. Location was fab - minutes walk to the Minster and York town centre. Our room was also air conditioned which was much appreciated.

Not an issue but worth considering - hard to access the room! A bit of a maze inside with lots of stairs and only one entrance via reception.

The hotel seemed quite run down and in need of some renovating- the room we were in was particularly run down and very small/ quite worn. Very noisy when other guests are walking around upstairs etc. Breakfast was also a very limited offer and not all items were fresh.

The thoughtful touches really make this hotel special. We were able to utilize the luggage pickup service from the train station and our bags were waiting for us in our room when we arrived. We brought our dog along with us and she was treated like a celebrity throughout our stay and received a dog bed, treats, bowls and a tug toy. The bed was so comfy I slept soundly through the night. The pantry was available for snacks, I just wish there were more drink options as the only sparkling water had apple in all the flavors. The soaking tub was divine, especially after walking through the city center all day. The building is gorgeous, but old, so the stairs are noisy when people walk by. Luckily our room didn’t get too much foot traffic around it, however, the provided radio or record player could help drown that out. I wish I booked a longer stay and tried out the spa as well! Maybe next time!

Guesthouse largely delivered as promised. Staff was very helpful and pleasant. Bootham Suite was spacious with nice little balcony. Very comfortable. The housekeeping was sloppy, did not empty trash, clean balcony table or clean one of the two coffee cups. Record player was cute but sound was horrendous, not driving me back to vinyl. Breakfast at restaurant was fine. Sunday roast for dinner was good but service that night was terrible. We waited over an hour for main courses as did other diners. When we left we noticed a party of 20. Servers apologized but their should have been a dessert or drink offered as an appeasement. Big miss. The pantry was cute but most of the snacks were not to our liking and beverage selection very limited. Overall, we would consider a Guesthouse in another city.

Great hotel within easy walking distance of the city centre, stayed in a larger room which was ideal for the 2 of us. Spa treatments amazing with a shout out to Sophie. Dinned in the restaurant the first night which again lived up to expectations. Overall a great hotel and will definitely be trying a sister hotel in Bath soon.

Our daughter had her wedding reception here. Amazing, from the fabulous staff especially Claire in the restaurant tip the excellent food we couldn’t fault it! Gorgeous accommodation with comfy beds. The bridal suite was superb. Loved it all - thank you ! ❤️

This is the third time staying at this wonderful hotel . The location is a 10 minute stroll into the city or you can walk along the river to get into a city again a stone’s throw away . The hotel is decorated beautifully. The bar does amazing cocktails , the breakfast is superb. The restaurant which was open at the weekends has wonderful food . The bar menu offered outside of the restaurant again lovely . We travelled with our dog . Room was great with a bed for him to sleep in . Our bed was a 4 poster ! This hotel has something on the 2 nd floor I believe called “ the pantry” . Nip along and help yourself to all the goodies that await you at no cost . Highly recommend this lovely hotel with the amazing staff .

Fab boutique hotel right conveniently located for York. Great staff, rooms spacious and comfortable, air con was a nice surprise during our visit and needed in the 30 degree heat. Fabulous breakfast, reception very helpful. Loved the train in the bar toot tooting and the pantry treats. Will definitely be a go to hotel for York city breaks in the future. Highly recommend.
