Crowne Plaza Syracuse, an IHG Hotel

Room was dirty and not up our standards or expectations

Only decaf coffe in room - would have liked regular - no waste basket in bathroom - don’t understand why-

The Good: Hotel and room were clean. Can't say enough about the staff. They were extremely friendly. Room was a bit small but did the job. I would recommend staying there. Only thing you need to be aware of is that is located right near Interstate 81 and heard loads of traffic all night. Not sure if all rooms are like this, but ours was.

Staff friendly. Pet friendly which is nice, except someone left their dog in the room and it barked for hours. Check in slow, but they were short staffed. Staffing also an issue with dining. Rooms could use a refresh for price point

Not prepared for a house turn over of 200 guests leaving and 200 arriving. Not prepared for the total eclipse although the event was not a surprise. The few experienced staff members were not able to compensate for the weaker members. The kitchen was the strong point. The front of the house staff did not work as a team. The managers were not able to delegate responsibility and tasks. The guests were left with no clear directions and wandered aimlessly around the hotel, waiting to be checked in. The experienced staff worked hard. The inexperienced did nothing , Literally leaning against walls in plain sight of frustrated guests.

We booked our stay months in advance for the 2024 eclipse. We waited 4 1/2 hours for our room. Checking in initially, we were then told that we would be put onto a queue and that they would let us know when our room was ready. They never let us know anything and upon returning to the property, 4 1/2 hours later, we did have rooms. The fact that this property was not prepared for the crowds that had been predicted for many, many months is a disgrace. The property manager was nowhere to be seen, the housekeeping staff was overwhelmed when there should’ve been more staff on duty, and only two people were at the front desk. The front desk person had the nerve to say, “we had a full house last night. Those rooms were booked before the eclipse was predicted” - the most ridiculous statement I’ve ever heard, we all know that the eclipses are predicted decades in advance. Shame on this property for its lack of foresight and attention to its customers. On top of all of that, in the morning, I was expected to pay $2.75 for a coffee. No concessions were made in light of the check-in fiasco. I will never stay here again.

Great stay! You get for what you pay for, if you’re in town for 1-3 days, I recommend this hotel for the best value for your dollar. It’s clean and the room is spacious. Restaurants are a short Uber ride away unless you don’t mind a 15-25 min walk into the heart of downtown.

There was a 20 minute line when I arrived at 7 pm and upon reaching the front of the line, they told me the room wasn’t ready even though checkin was hours earlier and I couldn’t get in my room til almost 9 pm after spending a fortune on it because of price gouging for the eclipse. Then I get in the room and it’s not clean, the blackout curtains don’t close all the way and it’s very noisy both inside and out. The area is not safe, either.

What stood out about our stay was the staff. The check in and check out process was seamless. The staff was smiling and was very helpful. The beds were comfortable and the rooms had enough space to put all of our things. The only thing that was a problem was that the fourth floor smelled like trash and the elevators can be a little cleaner.
