Shrigley Hall Hotel

The location is stunning. The golf course is challenging and makes a buggy essential for less fit individuals or when it is very hot. The rooms are very average and the spa is limited in facilities. There is also a lovely short woodland walk on the premises (25-40 mins depending on fitness and what you see),

No air-con, fridge, wardrobe, or safe (there is a frame for hanging clothes) in the room. The "toiletries" consisted of a single combination soap/shampoo/conditioner mix. The spa had one steam room (not working), one sauna and one jacuzzi (similar locations/price have multiple of these). The outdoor infinity pool was too hot. The indoor pool was suitable for swimming though. The continental breakfast was missing the meats and cheeses (listed on the menu) and bread rolls,

The original house is lovely, the golf course is nice and the food is very good. The en-suite was good.

Most rooms are in an extension that is way past it's best. The bedroom was very tired with rotten window frames. This was disappointing in such a great setting.

The grounds

The building is dated, cheaply done and looks very tacky.

Accessibility features are not good

Beautiful grounds, location and staff where all really lovely. Breakfast was good and I liked the self service. Room was small but clean.

Expensive drinks. We paid over £15 for 2 pints. The dining room was a little dirty around the skirting boards. I thunk it wouldn't take much to give the hotel a little spruce to just make it feel a little cleaner

Beautiful setting and views around, gardens and golf course well maintained.

Overpriced for the standard of the rooms. No air con anywhere in the building, and the heating appeared to be on when it was 26 degrees outside, no fridge in the room, not even a bottle of water in the room, interior of the hotel needs some updating as it looks tired and run down in places. The outdoor courtyard could be a lovely area, but looks tired and run down. Bar was not staffed well enough, very slow service most of the time. Generally very expensive for food and drinks.

The views from the front of the hotel were beautiful. All staff were very friendly and helpful. Provided a fan quickly on a hot day as windows didn’t open properly. The golf course was well presented although signage needs to be better at red tees.

The rooms and corridors at the rear of the hotel were tired and shabby with poor paintwork, marks on furniture etc.
