Shrigley Hall Hotel

I have been going through a hard chapter of my life...every staff member was so lovely, friendly n made me feel welcomed. I have had a well deserved rest. I spent time at th spa and definitely would to do again n would definitely recommend.

The spa was lovely, but the massage session I booked felt a little rushed.

The restaurant ran out of wine, and the only option was a not-so-nice house wine. We had to ask for salt. For breakfast, the salt and pepper cellars were very dirty.

Given the £60 cost of the spa experience, I expected the facilities to be maintained to a much higher standard than what I encountered. Unfortunately, several aspects of the visit fell below expectations. Some of the jacuzzis were not operational and had no water in them, which significantly reduced the range of facilities available. Throughout the spa area, there were also numerous broken and damaged tiles, which not only looked unsightly but raised concerns about maintenance and safety. In addition, the toilets and changing rooms had a strong unpleasant smell, which detracted from what should have been a relaxing and enjoyable experience. The sun loungers around the pool areas were dirty and had Mould on them, alongside the floors being puddled with water in which also seemed to be dirty. One particular issue that stood out was a sun lounger located in the pool area that appeared to have been covering broken tiles rather than being properly repaired. This gave the impression that maintenance issues were being temporarily patched rather than addressed appropriately. Overall, I do not feel that the experience provided value for the price paid, and I was disappointed by the condition of the facilities. I hope this feedback can be used to improve the spa experience for future guests.

Arrived the hotel which is in stunning settings, the reception area looks tired and could do with updating. We were told where our room was and told where the lift was, as we were on the 3rd floor, we were not told the lift was out of order!! The walk to the room was through corridors that looked disgusting with damp, mould and very much needing an update, the paint on the walls were peeling and looked awful. On entering the room it was awful, marks and paint peeling everywhere, the room was uninviting and cold, we should of left but thought we would stay and try and make the most of it. We went to the bar for cocktails, dont bother for £11.50 you get not more than a shot glass size cocktail!! We ate in the restaurant, clients wearing shell suits and shorts the whole atmosphere was something from a buttons camp!! To top it off we were ill from the food and tried to get some sleep, the bed was ok but we just wanted to go. Breakfast in the morning was ok, but the dining chairs were all marked with food stains and the tables dirty. All in all the experience was only made fantastic by the company of my wife, the actual place was poor and needs shutting down for a complete overhaul, we will never return and we will encourage people never to book. I dread to think what the kitchens look like!! STAY AWAY YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!

Rooms and corridors in bad condition. Random furniture stored in hallways. Lifts not working. Condition of room was poor and run down.

Very tired room chipped dated furniture. Toilet didn’t flush properly- taps loose and uncomfortable bed. Sadly dated tv with broken remote. Mould on grout and ants in bathroom. Promise an upgrade to deluxe at front to find it rescinded to refurbished double at back overlooking courtyard bar. Bad impression yo promise a good i up grade to then rescind on it. Dinner at evening was good .

I booked the hotel and spa for my partners birthday back in April, 24 hours before my spa experience we got an email to state that certain facilities were not available but no compensation was available as they offered to move the dates. However we couldn't do this as it was booked on the day of my partners birthday and we'd booked time off work. So we just sucked it up and thought we'd still try enjoy it. We then got to our room to have human poo and toilet paper seeping out of the drain by our window. We let reception know before our evening meal and they stated they'd get it sorted, however they didn't , we woke up the following morning to the same state outside the room, we let reception know on exit and they told me to email to get some compensation back, as it was for my partners birthday and the state put a dampener on the whole experience, can say it certainly wasn't a romantic stay. I have emailed 5 times since the 17th of April to hear absolutely nothing at all from them. I think it's really poor they never dealt with the situation, offered no resolution or compensation, when it cost me £330 just for the spa alone and then an additional cost for the night stay, food and drinks we had there. Overall extremely disappointed, I expected so much more for the cost, to not even have an apology, after spending the whole day with sewage, poo and toilet paper outside our window. To the point the room was sticky and humid all night because we dreaded opening the window because of the smell
