Staypineapple, An Iconic Hotel, The Loop

Leider war der Straßenlärm im Zimmer recht laut zu hören. Außerdem war das Café nicht benutzbar, sondern eine Baustelle. Im Vergleich zu anderen Hotels in der Umgebung, war das Zimmer letztlich zu teuer.

Everything about this place was amazing. The staff was very friendly at check in & check out. The room was clean and comfortable. Would highly recommend and would definitely stay here again.

Location for the Christmas Market is perfect. The hotel beautiful and the staff are always great! This is our go-to hotel for stays in the city.

Ok listen up! Go somewhere else!! This is NOT one of those disgruntled reviews! Our stay was fine. That is to say we had beds to sleep in, there was heating and hot water, and the elevator worked. Beyond that however -- lets start with the good things: Good: Rooms are relatively spacious. We booked two rooms, a king, and a high floor king suite. Enough space to get around and stay comfortably for a few days. The windows are HUGE. High floor views are nice. The street wasn't super noisy, although you can hear the L go by. The hotel is in a lovely historic building. The building is pretty quiet. The location is fantastic! Bad: First of all, nobody mentioned before booking, that THE RESTAURANT IS CLOSED for renovations until -- supposedly April!! This was a major bummer, as there is NO FOOD at the hotel. Nothing other than the dry pastries at the lobby (those disappeared too by day 3 and gave way to some prepackaged white cookies. Also if you enjoy some microplastics with your coffee, there is your room Keurig. It is free right? Nope! You pay a daily convenience free for things like coffee and wifi, and I guess hot water. They had the audacity to keep the restaurant's menu in every room. But the phone number was disconnected. You can't really shower, unless you enjoy standing in 6-8 inches of water, as the pipes are old and the water doesn't go down. There is no keycard, instead, good old fashioned keys. You are informed, if you loose one, it is a $50 charge! Not done yet: The furniture is akin to a Motel 6, everything is tired and scratched up, the bedding is cheap and definitely does not feel like cotton, you get two separate twin size comforters, so if you like that good for you, but if you like snuggling up with your partner under one cover, you are out of luck. The plastic bed protector is bunched up under the thin sheet. The carpet looks like it has been vacuumed maybe a week or two ago, but wasn't washed for decades! Lighting is terrible. If you only are in your hotel room to watch tv and sleep, great, but if you are trying to do work, or eat food, or have a meeting or a conversation it gets hard. There is literally one table lamp (nothing overhead) in the entire living room part of the suite. Finally: the staff. Well there are some random looking dudes sit behind the counter in the lobby, but they don't care much about you, some indifferent, some quite rude, some are just odd. None of them are professional in any way, or seem like being there to provide a service. Felt like they are just the overnight security, to watch the door. I am so confused by all the great reviews. Yes, it might have been a great hotel some time ago. It is a lovely building, superb location, great architecture. But it felt more like a cheap Airbnb (with no kitchen!) in a random house rather than a four star hotel!! AVOID!!!

I stayed here for a week. I'm glad other people LOVE this hotel, but after reading all of the positive reviews, I decided to give it a try. It's average. Yes, it's relatively clean and comfortable, and I would stay here again if I did not have other choices. I will try a different hotel next time I am in town as I think there are others that are nicer and offer a better value. Check in was fine and the desk attendant was professional and friendly. My room appeared to be a former closet that was converted into a room. The room number was not even on the directional signage on the wall in the hallway. I booked an "Atwood Queen" which is the smallest floorpan but my room looked nothing like the pictures on the website. It was tiny, had an eye-level view of the HVAC on the roof next door, smelled like grease from the restaurant, was noisy from the HVAC, and the bathroom had no countertop, just a pedestal sink, so there was really nowhere to put toiletries. The grout on the tile in the shower could use some work. The bed was comfortable and overall it was a comfortable place to sleep for the week despite the smell and noise, but it was a disappointment and again looked noting like the pictures on the website. No, I didn't bother to complain at the front desk, as I was didn't want to be labeled as "a problem" and no, I'm not usually one to ever have any problems or complain at a hotel. The other issue is the this place charges resort fees. They were disclosed and I knew they were added on to the advertised price of the room, but after seeing and experiencing everything included for this fee, they should not be charging resort fees. It's just a ripoff -- raise the price instead of nickel-and-diming. Finally, toward the end of the week, it seemed like the building was having a problem with sewer, as the lobby and elevator area smelled like sewer. I don't know if that was an anomaly, but it wasn't great. I just chalked it up to "sometimes things happen." Was this the worst place ever? No. Was it "knock my socks off" amazing? No. Is it a good value for the money? No. Was it absolutely horrible? Also no.

Great location. Well maintained and unique building. The room was well kept and clean. Sashon B. at the front desk check-in was very friendly and helpful. Greatly enjoyed meeting him.

Everything! The hotel was clean, friendly located in a fantastic location. Definitely my next stay when I visit Chicago.
