Slaley Hall Hotel, Spa & Golf Resort

Lovely setting, helpful staff, clean and spacious. There was a delay in a couple of room issues being resolved but the front of house manager sought us out to apologise for this. Really enjoyed using the swimming pool which was long enough to get a reasonable swim. It was unfortunate that there was scaffolding outside all our windows, I was puzzled that the hotel chose the height of the season to do the building works, might have been preferable to do at low season. Breakfast buffet variable, things ran out, delay in order of poached egg arriving and buffet food was not hot.

Spa facilities, grounds and dinner

Request for additional pillows ignored, kids swim times did not support early check in and the staff at breakfast were poorly trained. We arrived expecting to be in the main restaurant at breakfast, but instead walked through to a side room that was dark, no atmosphere and not practical with a young family. We took it upon ourselves to move back into the main restaurant as we had to go back through to the buffet and we could see plenty of free tables. So many tables free but all still dirty, so we took it upon ourselves to clear the table (while staff watched). Staff were slow and unhelpful at breakfast and most serving areas were not clean. But we could now see our children at the table while we helped ourselves to breakfast.

The hotel and grounds were beautiful, staff very friendly and food was delicious

The service and general service is what you would expect for this quality level hotel I enjoy using the spa facilities after a long drive

Woken before 6am with machinery noise from outside room both mornings not good; a golf tournament was on & we should have been advised of this at booking with offer of alternative rooms away from the external machinery. also work was being carried out in hotel with very loud drills

A first class location in quiet surroundings. The room was quite big and very comfortable. The breakfasts and evening meals were first class. This was our third stay at the hotel.

A wonderful 1 night stay, the hotel was excellent, the food was really good. I used the gym and the spa both were really great. The staff were very hardworking, cheerful and helpful. Cleanliness was very good, rooms comfortable. I would definitely recommend.

in much need of an update Furnishings were shabby broken or ripped The dinning hall next to the restaurant that served breakfast has inches of dust on the shelves
