The grounds are beautiful but there are some 'feature' areas that need a lot of work to bring them up to their original beauty. The staff were friendly and courteous. The room was very nice. The food was really good but, a downside, and this was a biggie for us, was that it was really disappointing that the menu didn't change for the entire time that we were there. As it is such a limited menu that meant having to have the same thing on 2 or 3 nights. We stayed over Valentine's and, not unsurprisingly, the restaurant was very busy that night which was fine but, no Valentine's decoration - not a single thing and EXACTLY the same menu

The property is maintained to a high standard, the grounds even more so. The staff are friendly and willing to please, the facilities and amenities are great! One minor but significant concern for us this time was the fact that the Snooker table has been removed next to indoor pool to make way for yet another quiet space. Why? Big mistake there are so many quiet areas around the Hotel and grounds, that closing a great facility to create another one seems misguided and unnecessary!

Lovely big, clean, and comfortable room. Dinner was excellent and made all the more special with the pianist playing during the meal.

The grounds is what makes this property so special. The staff will go above and beyond to make your stay nice. Very old school feel and it’s not for the traveler that wants modem facilities with updated technology and fixtures. Really historic beauty for those that can appreciate this kind of beauty.

"Faded glory"

8.0

My wife and I held our wedding reception at Tylney Hall 29 years ago and it was fantastic. In the years that followed we stayed several times and were usually very impressed. We decided to celebrate our anniversary with a suite in the main building for one night. It was extremely spacious with a lovely view but for the price (over £400) it is not nearly smart enough and lacked 'mod cons'. The overall feeling was dated and in some places actually quite shabby. Time has moved on and has left rooms like this behind, but not in a good way. For example, there is a jacuzzi bath but the shower is underwhelming with just average power and an old fashioned shower head - no rainfall shower here. The walls in the lounge had plenty of dings in them and the window frames were mostly rotten and draughty - some would not close properly. TVs in the lounge and bedroom but small and not smart. One of the worst examples of the lack of customer friendly facilities was the bedside lights which were very bright and could only be on at the same time as the very bright overhead LED spotlights. One switch controlled all these from just one side of the bed. Premier Inns are better than this. We had excellent vegetarian food in the restaurant but in the bar when I asked for a glass of Chardonnay, I was told they didn't have any. When asked for nibbles to go with the drinks, olives were offered and these appeared on our bill at check costing £8! I wouldn't stay again until the rooms are updated.
