Beautiful hotel in extensive gardens, great service. Pool area lovely, just be aware saunas are located in changing rooms so are effectively single sex.

The grounds and hall are beautiful BUT there was a persistent lack of staff. For example, when we went to the terrace bar on both Saturday and Sunday, it took ages to get served. We went to the bar, they told us a server would be out, but then no one would come out and we had to keep going up. On the Sunday, it took us an hour between sitting down and anyone getting us our lunch- it was 4pm before we ate, which messed up the amount of time we could fit in the pool after lunch and before our dinner reservation. At dinner, staff would look offended if we tried to top up our own wine without a server, but then that server could only do that, not take an extra order, etc, and not arrive in time for a top up- same at breakfast, the tea server couldn't take food orders. We think a big wedding and birthday party were distracting them, because on the quieter Monday, this didn't happen. But it was frustrating- if you can't fully staff the bar, lounge and outside, ask people to order at the bar, or make it clear only one area will have servers around, rather than leave people wandering 3 rooms to get noticed. And train staff so if they have to cover lots of duties, they can actually do them, instead of waiting for everything. Although some drinks were then taken off our bill because of this hour's wait (and forgetting part of the order), we aren't there to get free stuff, we just wanted to eat on time. However, everything else was great, and concierge was very helpful throughout.

Tylney Hall has to be one of my favorite places in the world and the ultimate spot for a relaxing vacation. We stayed in suite 7 for our anniversary, and it was huge and beautifully decorated. The staff and food are all first-rate and the Gertrude Jekyll gardens add a lush dimension for leisurely strolls.

simply put, some of the staff are excellent and others should find a job at Tesco. The grounds are lovely but the service was not on par with the property of the price.

Beautiful hotel, excellent service throughout spoiled only by an inexperienced receptionist not providing my partner and her disabled mother with enough help in getting to our rooms and a burnt club sandwich that we didn't have time to send back before our departure! The hotel is beautiful and the grounds are spectacular, with a stunning golf course right next door. The outdoor pool is gorgeous too, with a staffed bar to bring drinks to your sun lounger. We didn't get to use the spa as they had no appointments available but will definitely do so next time. The service was really terrific throughout other than the two incidents mentioned above. It's worth bearing in mind in the high summer that there is no a/c anywhere in the building because of its age, however the hotel does provide fans in all the bedrooms. Having said that, it would help if the bedrooms are aired before guests arrive during hot weather as our room was very stuffy when we arrived.
