"Average all inclusive!"

6.0

My husband and I booked Breezes for 2 weeks based on positive reviews. The location on Cable Beach is beautiful. The resort as mentioned is dated, however the bed was comfortable and the room clean. For the most part staff were friendly and helpful. The resort is a u shape. Every night there is entertainment which is quite loud. If noise bothers you I would ask for a room on the outside of the u. My husband liked being able to get a night time drink at the piano bar. Dale and the other staff were great. Unfortunately the Piano bar smelled of sewage, some days worse than others. Near the pool is a snack shack. We loved the fish and chips, jerk chicken and greek salad. In our opinion the burgers lacked flavor as did the hotdogs. However we heard some people really liked them. Th buffet is quite large. There was aways a good choice for breakfast, fruit, yogurt, bagels, toast, waffles, omelettes, etc. We did not like lunch at the buffett . The food choices were not great and the hot food was cold. For the most part we also found the dinner buffet lacking. The flavor of the food was not great, again the hot food was cold. The salad bar was great as were the pastries. We ate at all of the specialty restaurants. We did not like the service or food at the Italian restaurant. The garden of Eden was ok with the Japanese restaurant being the best. Again, this is our opinion, but we heard others that loved the Italian restaurant one day, but not the next. In the buffet hall it can be challenging to find a clean table. Sometimes we would get our own utensils, dinnerware, etc..Trying to get wait staffs attention could be difficult . Not sure if they are understaffed, inefficient or both. The pool area was great, with entertainment which was fun. We did not go in the hot tub. It was quite cloudy and did not look very hygienic. In short this is a 3 star at best.

"Bahamas on a budget"

6.0

My husband I just spent the week at Breezes and we have some pros and cons that could help you plan your stay. PRO: Good location on the island, inexpensive taxi to the downtown or marina. Clean the resort is dated but it's clean. Bedding and towels are fresh not stained and are well maintained. This is an important one. Beach and pool are nice with plenty of chairs and towels. Pool was very clean and clean around swim up bar and main bar. Beach grill we found the food from the grill to be some of the best on the resort. More on food below. View from rooms, we spent extra for the ocean view and it was worth it. Room was very dated but clean, bathrooms seem to have had more recent upgrades with decent showers and updated sinks and toilets. Good water pressure and plenty of hot water in the mornings. Plenty of entertainment on most days of the week, plenty of late night things to do. We were worn out every night and didn't take advantage but could hear the fun from our room. It wasn't overly loud and that's what ear plugs are for, don't get bully cause others are having a good time. CONS: Food buffet had plenty of options but were just a step above cafeteria food. Plenty of seating in the buffet area and lots of servers to help and keep tables clean. We tried some of the other restaurant's on the property and we enjoyed the Munasan Asian and it was really good, food was fresh and good service. We also ate at the Garden of Eden, later in the evening the service was not the best food was ok. We didn't make it to Martino's the Italian resturant. Another con on the food is there are times of the day when not much is available to eat and if you are used to a Mexican all inclusive this is not the same. There is a small store on site where you can but bottled water or a bag of chips or a T shirt. No fridge in your room, should you need one you can request at an extra fee. We always bring a backpack cooler, we bought water in the small store and some pop for our room and kept it cool with ice from the bar. There is fountain pop and juice available 24 hrs in the buffet area and an ice maker. No ice on each floor of the hotel. Overall we found the island to be very expensive but if you want to tick the Bahamas off your bucket list on a budget this is your place. The resort next door has a casino with walking paths connecting, about a 10 minute walk. I'd give Breezes a 3.5 star out of 5 review.

"Great for foodies, but bring your own wine."

8.0

The short version? If you like food, this is the place for you. If you like wine, this is NOT the place for you. If you like liquor, you may be okay ... you may not recognize any of the bottles at the bars. There were some brand name bottles at the Piano Bar (Tito's, Gordon's) but my husband and I weren't positive that those bottles actually contained that brand of liquor. The long version: great value, overall, especially if you like to eat. Breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets every day and there was a huge variety of food. It was very tasty, except for the coffee. (The coffee was pretty bad, but the resort next to this one had a Starbucks, so we just took a walk in the morning. ) Also, the time slots for the buffets were broad - you had plenty of time to eat each meal. (You didn't have to be an early riser, and if you liked dinner a bit later, that was fine, too.) The property was immaculate. It's an old hotel, but clean as a whistle. The bedding was top-notch and our room was fine. The pools were nice. Most of them were very shallow, like most hotels, but there was one that had an area that was six feet deep, so you could get some exercise there. The beach was lovely and the hotel is right on the beach. There were plenty of beach chairs, some with umbrellas, and the towels were free. The only thing about the pool that we didn't like was the super loud music that they played all afternoon. Just a personal preference, maybe some people like that. Also, this is an adults-only place, so it's not good for families. The employees were unfailingly polite. The only ones who weren't super efficient were the bartenders. They were pretty slow and sort of unorganized. I presume that because the drinks were free, they weren't in a hurry to dispense them too quickly. Also, the wine was literally undrinkable. We ordered two glasses of white wine and my husband told me that my face blanched when I tasted it. We left both glasses on the bar. I'm glad it was free, but I would have happily paid for something better. On our last day, we paid an extra fee $35/hour for a later checkout. We really appreciated having that option.

"not bad, may return"

8.0

9 days late February. Beach: widest and nicest area on cable beach. tons of chairs, clean sand, no seaweed. nice quality volleyball court. only 3 problems. 1. no drink service unless you pay $100 for private palapa. 2. hard plastic extremely uncomfortable loungers. with only a handful of the blue material ones that were mostly worn out and saggy. 3. if you wanted shade you needed to get your towels on one by no later than 6:30a.m. Food: 3 ala carts. no reservations unless party of 8 or more. not all open each day. you needed to line up for almost an hour before the 630 or 8pm seating's. they don't do a waitlist when full for some strange reason, they wait till first seating is completely done before starting the second seating. figured out the trick was just make a reso for 8 or more and just find 3 or more couples that don't want to wait in line. reservations are seated first before the line up is let in. 1.eden: best of bunch, nice menu, good steak, really nice outdoor seating area if your lucky to be near front of line or have reso. 2. Asian: wife and i liked it, heard others complain but i chalked up to their palate. 3. Italian: worst of bunch. for some reason both times we ate there they were severly understaffed and everything took a long time. surf and turf was so so, chicken parm was terrible. buffet:9/10. breakfast: everything you could possible want from bagels/lox/cram cheese to omelet stations, pancakes, French toast, fresh Belgian waffles etc.. downside was service was near non existent for breakfast, you had to get your own coffee and juice from the drink room and the coffee was unbelievably bad. (maxwell house) and usually had coffee grounds floating in it. no cappuccino or espresso anywhere on resort lunch: go to the beach hut for great burgers and fries instead dinner: excellent, every night a different theme from taco stations, to turkey, roast beef, lamb chops, fresh crepe station for dessert. service much much better at night. bars: my big problems where that for the most part only one bar open at a time. nothing 24 hours, and big lineups, with some bartenders had crappy attitudes whilst others were great. you learned quickly which ones to line up for. best hidden gem was piano bar. great martinis and pretty good quality top shelf liquors. pianist (wed-sun) was great. rooms: dated and sparsely furnished. just your bed a small table with a wooden chair. no armchair or small couch making it very uncomfortable if you just wanted to relax and read without having to lie down in bed. there was plenty of room for a couch. don't pay for ocean view. pretty much every room has a view of the ocean. no balcony either which sucked. i always love sitting out on a balcony late at night but cant do here. lots to do in Nassau excursion wise and right next door to the massive Baha Mar resort, short walk to the casino and had a great pizza place too. taking a bus downtown is only $1.50 and comes every few minutes. most everyone gets on the bus. cab is $25-40 for same 15 minute ride . only 3 all inclusive on island. sandals which is double the price, the Warwick which has no real beach and breezes. you can book 9 days for about $2700 Canadian which is a pretty good deal, cant get that price anywhere in Dominican. less than 3 hour flight to Toronto. Most people at resort where great that we met, even a bunch of Americans, although there were a few Maga'ts running around spewing their racist crap, one clown even had his red cap. would return, bring your own drink container for larger drinks that will last longer (avoids lineups). bonus , got to see three rocket launches from cape Canaveral that week and boosters all landed near by

"Cozy and accommodating!"

8.0

Husband and I just got back from celebrating our anniversary at Breezes. For some context we are in our late 20s. We don’t usually book resorts when traveling but this was a special occasion and a vacation package booked through JetBlue. From the beginning our experience was very positive, we were greeted with welcome drinks and the staff was very helpful with us adjusting our schedule after missing our flight and later when we wanted to extend for a day later as well. They really want to help you maximize your experience and your time on the beach. In general our rooms were very clean, comfy, housekeeping stayed on top of everything, and the TVs are updated to be able to utilize any subscription service. Only downside was the door itself was pretty thin and had a gap underneath so we could hear the noise of people coming out the elevator pretty easy. The beach itself was amazing, it wasn’t super crowded like we could see on the beaches of the other resorts and the staff was very accommodating even for people on the beach. The food by the beach was really good, especially the jerk chicken and for the most part got served fast and efficiently. The buffet the last day was really good, the other days it was okay (loved the lamb chops though). Could be improved definitely but also wasn’t terrible. We only tried the Japanese fusion restaurant which we weren’t huge fans of but did like the dessert. The crowd was older, 50+ for the most part. And everyone seemed to be making friends and getting along. I also think the entertainment reflected the average age of the attendees… which wasn’t a bad thing. Karaoke seemed to be a pretty big hit that people really enjoyed. There were also pool tables, a workout room, and board games in case you wanted a more relaxed night. My husband and I aren’t much of drinkers but the drinks were good in our opinion. It was also easy to walk over to Baha Mar in case you wanted to try out some of their dining options, entertainment, casino, etc. Overall we had a good experience! We really enjoyed our first trip to the Bahamas and definitely think the staff are what made the resort a special place.

"A great place to be"

10.0

I have just returned from what was a very good experience at Breezes . The hotel and staff met and surpassed my expectations The room was large very clean and well furnished . The only negative being that there were maintenance issues with the elevators . There are three restaurants the best was the Asian which had a excellent fusion of Asian and Caribbean . The manger Sherylyn (spelling?) did an excellent job of ensuring great food and service . My waiter Shane was always on top of service The Italian restaurant had mixed reviews from people I met but my experience was very positive with the excellent surf and turf Unfortunately Eden was a disappointment . Although its location is great using the remains of the former mansion at that site ( residence of Edward V111 when he was governor) the service was VERY slow 1hr 25 to get your main course Another BIG fault was the filet of beef on the menu was really a piece of strip loin and not that tender You must line up30min prior opening to ensure getting in First come first served Th e buffet was excellent and very extensive The bars were well stocked with an international selection of liquors One barman/ butler known as G was especially friendly and the inventor of a banana cocktail worth trying

"Noisy, tepid food, poor entertainment"

6.0

We booked two weeks here through TUI for a relaxing holiday. Unfortunately this was not the hotel that we thought it was going to be. The staff were helpful and helped out with any questions that we had, but several things were seriously lacking. The entertainment at night was dreadful. In the main venue it was the same band 6 nights a week (and they look very jaded and bored). The Summer Breeze Band as they were called, came out at 8.30pm and started singing the same songs almost every night with a very loud sound system. The lead singer kept on about "His Big Bamboo" every night making suggestive movements with his body. It got very tedious and we gave up after a while. Also, when they took a break, no music was played in the venue which was left silent, no disco or recorded music played, which was absurd so people left. The most stupid thing was after their second break, which was supposed to be 20 minutes but ended up being 40, they came back at 11.55pm to play one song and then finished. It was impossible to get an early night or get to sleep before midnight because their noise reverberated around the hotel walls. They really need to put on different entertainment every night and need it to be continuous with an end time. The other venues were a piano bar (up to 1am) with a singer that just shouted his songs and a disco (up to 2am) that was like a freezer, even the Americans complained about the cold and they like air con! This hotel is called "The Breezes" because a strong breeze blows across from the sea into the pool area and can make it quite chilly. Also, we found it very unusual and disappointing that the hotel has no balconies; every room has a Juliet balcony which you can't sit out on. The meals in the buffet were very disappointing. There was chicken wings and rice every night with some fish and meat dishes but the food was tepid. The "hot" meals had cold gravy and congealed pasta and were dreadful i,e, who wants cold gravy with Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding? It seems the staff had no idea how to keep food hot and there was no real variety. The only hot food in the restaurant was the soup, so we ate that and mainly salad as the "hot food" was not appetising. We ate in all three speciality restaurants more than once (the best food was served here) and enjoyed "The Garden Of Eden" and "Martinos" but did not rate the Asian restaurant which was too dark, the bowls were black and you needed a torch to see the menu and your food. Finally if you want a restful, peaceful stay, this is NOT the hotel for you. A poolside DJ plays loud disco and rap music from 11am to 5pm every day, so you need to avoid the poolside area if you want any peace - however, there is no quiet area to go to. We cannot recommend this hotel and as we have done the Bahamas completely we will not be returning.
