"Not a 5 star experience"

4.0

After receiving a voucher for Mount juliet for our engagement, we booked Hunters yard for a quiet two night break. While the staff were lovely upon arrival (particularly the porter), check-in was chaotic as a wedding party rolled in directly after us. We'd requested an early check in. Obviously understanding that this isn't a given we were okay to wait for the room to be ready. What was exceptionally frustrating was seeing the entire wedding party receiving their room numbers and keys, while we continued to wait. We wandered the grounds and spent some time in the manor house which was enjoyable. We had arranged dinner outside of the hotel because it was just plain difficult to get a reservation in the hotel restaurants and there is no walk-in option for food. We eventually returned to our room, and no more than 30 minutes passed and the most insane sound of drumming started. Turns out the wedding had a cake cutting ceremony that required drums. As it turns out our hotel room was the closest room to the function room... wild considering we had nothing to do with the wedding party. When my partner complained to reception about the drumming (which went on for 45+ minutes) and the location of our room reception could offer no solution -hotels full, drumming will stop eventually. When asked about continuing noise from the wedding (who continued to pass our room on the way to their own all night) reception said a staff member would keep them moving on... this did not happend. We were constantly woken up as guest meandered around shouting and joking. But the epitome of this noise was a conga line of guests that passed repeatedly by our door, screaming the lyrics of "Call me Al" in the early hours of the morning. No staff there to "move them on". Breakfast was good the first morning but the second morning it was not. We waited 50 minutes for our ordered food and coffee. When the food came it was the wrong order and coffees were cold. We did raise it and the response was an apology but followed quickly by the kitchen is very busy. With the fear of waiting even longer for food we just said it was fine and ate what we were given. The room itself was also subpar. At glance it appeared clean but it wasn't overly. The tiles in the shower had soap scum, there was dust and there was someone else's underwear and socks left on the top shelf of the wardrobe - only discovered when I pulled a bag I'd put up there down. Disgusting and hardly 5 star attention to detail. On a positive note, the gym and bar staff were very friendly and polite. In particular the bar staff who were engaging and offered some great recommendations. Just so disappointing overall

We made our annual return to Mount Juliet this time celebrating a very special occasion. The welcome, care & attention we received was simply incredible. Ann Marie in The Hunter’s Yard went above and beyond to make our stay there so memorable. She made us feel very special indeed and we are so grateful to her. Barry in the Manor House also did everything possible to ensure our stay was a memory we will cherish forever. From all the lovely bar staff to our old favorites Ann Marie & John the Manor House simply never fails to deliver, it is 5 star luxury but with a special, very natural human touch. To cap it all we were so privileged yet again to dine in the Lady Helen and to experience the spectacular cooking of Head Chef John Kelly. The food is, as always, other worldly and with the recent addition of Jean Baptiste as Sommelier the wine pairing is judged to a tee. The way all the waiting staff in the Lady Helen handled our ‘surprise’ was just so classy, befitting of the venue itself. A huge thanks to John himself too, he crowned the night for us ! We always love our trips back to Mount Juliet but this one was extra special and from both of us we just wish to thank the staff again for everything they did, you made our stay the best we’ve ever had. Can’t wait to return and see you all next year !

"Quintessential Irish Golf Experience"

10.0

Mount Juliet is the quintessential Irish experience with world class golf. General Manager Mark Dunne and his staff provided excellent service and the hotel and grounds are incredible. Kilkenny is a short drive and a small town full of charm. Highly recommend this beautiful hotel.

Staff was terrific, property is gorgeous. We’d go back for sure. Our only relatively minor issue was the shower/bathroom. It’s a bit oddly constructed and was nearly impossible to keep the water inside the shower.

"Couples get away"

10.0

We had such a lovely stay at Mount Juliet, Hunters Yard, for our 10-year anniversary! We'd previously only stayed in the Manor house on 4 other occasions. The check-in process was smooth and effortless, and the team went out of their way to make it special. They left a delicious cake in our room and even helped me surprise my partner with rose petals and chocolate, it was such a thoughtful touch. For dinner, we went with room service and had the burger, which was absolutely spot-on, juicy, flavorful, and just what we were craving. It made for a perfect, relaxed evening. The only small hiccup was with the late check-out. We had arranged to leave at 1 PM but were contacted a few times around midday to check out, which interrupted the otherwise perfect vibe. Overall, the staff’s attention to detail and the warm hospitality made this a truly memorable getaway. We’d absolutely love to come back again!

"Pleasant stay"

8.0

We had a pleasant stay at Mount Juliet. The staff were welcoming and very helpful with our luggage and car. Our room in the manor house was elegant albeit a bit tired looking. The bathroom was fabulous and had clearly been renovated. Some of the staff seemed new which led to a few small glitches, but the folks who had been there a while were great. My only other niggle was that the windows were terribly in need of washing. There were so many cobwebs on our windows we could barely see the view out of them.

The hotel itself, the grounds, the scenary and the food are all amazing. But the standout aspect and what would make me return is the staff. They were all so welcoming, friendly and attentive. They really couldn't do enough for you. Would highly recommend. The Lady Helen restaurant was fantastic too.
