Hotel Bernat II

Lovely hotel. Comfortable bed. Nice cheap spa. Room was nicely decorated would definitely stay here again. Tried to book for next month but was fully booked.

It is a beautiful hotel however the staffs were not helpful and seemed quite stuck up. The facilities and room service was not great as we asked for new bath robes and new beddings and was advised they can’t provide new robes neither new bedding unless 3 days old. Duvet was just a blanket with sheets on top really not comfortable

Would not recommend for solo traveller, especially if a senior. Hotel appears to cater to families with young children, or groups of young people, and the soundproofing is poor so you will hear kids running up and down laminated flooring, adjoining room guests conversing etc. The location is good / convenient and the rooms and other areas were clean.

We chose this hotel due to location and it's relaxing appeal with the spa as my husband was taking part in the Ironman event. The hotel was the perfect location for this due to its close proximity to the beach. The hotel was clean with friendly staff. We stayed in a standard room, which was quite basic but served its purpose. Lovely bathroom with bath and shower. Photo of the pool a bit deceiving- pool area quite small, I felt that it was lacking in atmosphere but that could have been due to the time of year/end of holiday season Really good wifi in all areas of the hotel. No English speaking tv channels which would have been nice! Having not expected the wifi to be so good I didn't bring iPad otherwise the tv wouldn't have been an issue! Slight niggle that constantly had to ask reception to locate staff to serve drinks at the bar, maybe it was the time of year and they didn't have enough staff. The machines that served the hot drinks didn't work so only option to have a hot drink at hotel was from the bar (unless opted for inclusive meals). Having said all of that it was a nice relaxing hotel which was what we wanted, especially for the few days prior to the Ironman event. If visiting Callela again, would definitely consider staying here again. If you are after a quiet hotel then this is it!

Positives- location very close to good beach plus lovely coves nearby. Lovely spa in basement. Got free pass for one hour which was nice surprise. Pretty clean , Not bad restaurant and food Negatives- cramped room, poor decor , tiny balcony and paper thin walls, not much atmosphere in bar area More suited to families

Nice clean and well maintained hotel, majority of the staff were friendly and helpful. Food was plentiful but lacked some variety and towards the end of our stay we sought out alternatives.

The hotel was nice and comfortable. I will say the only downside was the good at the restaurant. We stayed 10 days and had almost every night the same type of food which was disapointing for a 4* hotel. We were in the region of Catalonia and not once we had their speciality of 'crème Catalane' but we happen to eat at an hotel nearby a 3* and they had a better selection of food. Also the pool can be a bit small when it gets busy but there is always the beach which is nice and there is facilities for children too. The hotel was good to offer activities at a discount Overall we enjoyed our stay!!

Good hotel, clean and modern. We arrived too late for dinner and they'd prepared a packed lunch bag for everyone. Good food, a bit repetitive, but always well cooked. Our only complaint was the pillows!

Would not recommend this hotel - very unhelpful reception staff, balconies so close that there is no privacy. Our air conditioning was not working and we had a very unpleasant experience trying to get it fixed as the temps were in the 30's and it was impossible to be in the room without it. No other rooms available but they said we could have a shower in a room and return to ours. Maintenance man and reception hassling us to get out of the room despite only being there under an hour having driven all day. Very rude receptionist next day when contacted to speak to manager. Despite acknowledging that the whole thing had been handled badly, the manager was very uncompromising in his approach and manner. We travel a lot in Spain, this was one of the most expensive hotels we were in on this trip and most certainly the worst - would return to Calella again but there are plenty of other hotels to choose from so will certainly never stay here again.
