The Stirling Highland Hotel

Beautiful hotel friendly staff

It's a bit dated. Didn't have any charging facilities in the room. Nor any power outlets by the night stands. Had reserved a king size bed but they only had a double when we checked in. Walkable down to the train station. Took a taxi up the hill when we arrived.

Upon checkout we asked for a bottle of water so that we could take our medications on the train (we are 69 and 80 years old). We were told we could buy one! Unacceptable! Guests should not have to pay for water at your hotel! It should be provided daily in the rooms!

Booked into twin room 106 for a 'girls' overnight stay to celebrate getting our old age pension. Room was very clean, roomy, beds were so comfy, nice clean white cotton bed linen. Didn't have time to go to the Spa but it looked really nice, a 3 minute walk into the center of town. Breakfast was excellent, plenty of choice, staff constantly filling up dishes, dining room was very busy but staff were in control, clearing dishes, chatting to guests, 10/10. All staff were great but giving a shout out to Rachel from Keith who welcomed us at reception.

Don’t expect much if you book this hotel. The establishment is in dire need of refurbishment. Restaurant has seats, tables and carpets well past their scrap date. Windows ill fitting and decrepid. Whilst the staff are nice and friendly the food, including breakfast is mediocre in choice and quality.

Hotel was nice, however we didn’t find there was any ambiance to the dining room. It was very plain. No charm for a Scotland Hotel. Breakfast was very good. Dinner was good, however, there was a very large group in the dining room and not enough staff to service everyone. They did the best they could but it took 2 hours for pizza.

A wonderful old historic building brought back to life and modernized. Has a host of health and spa amenities. Lovely hot and cold breakfast buffet at a very good price. Ask about the still used observatory — we were allowed to go up and tour it. This hotel gets you most of the way up the hill to Stirling Castle. Lots of great dinner options further down the hill. And much more to see on your way to the castle. A perfect spot for a weekend getaway!

I wish I could share a review but in planning for three weeks of varying lengths of stays, I somehow managed to book this hotel for the night "before" we arrived. Obviously we missed our reservation. And there no rooms available due to large wedding party that night. Looked great form the lobby though. And very close to Stirling Castle.

Beautiful hotel, with very helpful staff. Drinks and food prices very reasonable, and the quality of food was wonderful.

Dated hotel, but excellent location, pool, gym facilities for the price
