Hôtel ibis Saintes

Perfect for an overnight stay en route to south west france. A short drive from the motorway, which is ideal. The room was basic but clean and practical. There is a small bar area that served lighter meals or a restaurant. As we were travelling with a dog we ate in the bar area which was perfectly ok. Breakfast was good, a nice selection of continental breakfast items, or you could cook yourself an egg is you wanted. Plenary of grassy areas around the hotel to walk the dog so all in all was great for what we needed.

During the years I have stayed at many ibis hotels, including highway locations, normally a good experience and descent rooms. The room we stayed in at this hotel was extremely uncomfortable. First of all the room was so small that two adults couldn’t move around at the same time. The toilet/shower was allocated in what seemed to have been a cupboard. To make things worse and to ensure the claustrophobic feel the room was painted in very dark colours, and only one electrical socket was available. The staff were kind and helpful but not enough to change the extremely uncomfortable experience. Overall it seemed like this room was created from a spare cupboard just to a bit more profit, not caring about the customer experience. On top of everything, not one single picture on Hotels.com showed any room just close to mentioned room’s condition.

Your staff should be more welcoming in arrival, and to people in the restaurant, area service and treatment to others was very bad/poor.

Very clean and comfortable and easy To get to from autoroute

We were very surprised at the excellent hotel. Could not fault the room, staff or the evening meal / breakfast that we had. Wish UK had hotels of this standard for the price.

The staff at the hotel were helpful and pleasant. The hotel itself was comfortable as was the room. The meal in the restaurant however was very poor. My wife had to return her steak as it was raw. It came back and was no better, not edible. We understand the cook was an emergency replacement that night and staff settled the matter. Providing the cook has changed we will stop on our return in a few weeks.

The room smelled of dog and stale tobacco however the reception staff were excellent the cleaning was not the best the food was reasonable and not expensive

don't take the top room it has beams very close to the bed. Difficult to get in our out the bed

This was a stopping point on my journey and was sufficient, but I would not stay here again. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Other than the lobby, the facility was old and shabby. The room furniture was functional, but cheap. The bed linens were nice and in keeping with the Ibis hotel chain standard.
