Distance from room to restaurant was a long way, mattress was really old and uncomfortable, shower had mould and no grab rails, dirty toilet under the rim.

The room was good and clean. Great space

The valentine dinner service was very poor. Despite the fact , that I pre booked ahead, I had no table when I arrived. Waited for almost 20 mins and was later given a table with no table cloth serviettes and the rest. I was also put in a corner . Felt like there was a racial undertone , very appalling. Enjoyed the desert though However breakfast was great. I also pre booked a full body massage and paid for this ahead. I saw people wearing robes and asked for one and was told it is not part of my package, I was surprised because I had used various spa services across the country in the past. Anyway I asked to have the robe and asked for the cost, which I found out was £7.50. I was made to pay for it. Another racial undertone. I probably was only the coloured person around during valentine and I was a bit apprehensive. Money was later refunded to me. But no one offered an apology for the derogatory manner in which I was treated.

Muthu Belstead Brook Hotel Ipswich 1061642696 My friends and I had misfortune to stay at this hotel May bank holiday. It has 4 star rating due to the leisure facilities but beware the wonderful furniture in the reception, dining and lounge areas have no bearing on the bedroom and bathroom facilities. The room had a musty smell, the carpet and room furniture were stained but sitting on the bed felt the springs, pulled back the sheet and there was no mattress protector, just a filthy and badly stained mattress. This room had definitely not been checked or had a deep clean. Even a 3 star hotel should not have given any guest a dirty stained mattress. Filling up the kettle found it to have slivers of dried up rust from the element - a sure sign that this family room (209) had not been in use for a while as surely the Housekeeping would have noticed or another guest complained. The rooms are given courtesy "filtered" water bottles but some of the caps were not secure and the rims dirty. The receptionist on evening duty kindly switched us to new rooms and put on new mattress protectors, letting us see the mattresses underneath. Even these bedrooms were tired and grubby looking with stained carpets. I would recommend that all guests turn back the mattress protector and see what mattress lies underneath. And I would definitely not stay there with young children, toddlers or babies as the hygiene standards leave a lot to be desired. We had trouble speaking with the Sales Manager, after she initially offered her assistance in this matter but then blocked our calls! Eventually were offered a small refund but our whole weekend was spoilt. The management team seem to be lacking basic customer service skills and continually pass the buck to the next manager up the chain.

Wasn't sure what to expect from reading some of the reviews before booking but we were pleasantly surprised on arriving at a very smart, charachterful hotel amidst quiet gand spacious gardens. The whole location was a total haven yet still on the edges of Ipswich. The statues which greeted us as we drove into the roomy carpark were mind blowing. Our room was spacious (in the annexe part of the hotel) and the rest of the main buidling were delightfully playful in decoration and furnishings. The staff were very polite and helpful at reception and in the dining room where we had a very beautifully and varied breakfast the next morning. Considering there was a wedding on whilst we were there, we were able to enjoy a very peaceful and relaxing brief stay. Would definitely stay again if we needed to lay our heads near Ipswich.

Restaurant food menu was not to our taste so we opted for a local pub.

Location was comfortable and easy to find. Everywhere was clean Food was excellent Staff were helpful, friendly and professional A nice comfortable atmosphere with good outside areas to sit in and walk in
